The 2026 NFL International Series had two additions on Thursday. The San Francisco 49ers were confirmed as the opponent for the Los Angeles Rams in the Melbourne game, while the Dallas Cowboys will travel South to play in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
2026 NFL International Series Updated
Commissioner Roger Goodell recently said that the league will play nine international games during the 2026 season. Here’s the latest on the games abroad:
Australia: San Francisco 49ers vs. Los Angeles Rams, Melbourne, TBD
Brazil: The Dallas Cowboys have been confirmed to play in Rio de Janeiro; no opponent or date has been confirmed.
France: The New Orleans Saints have been confirmed to play in Paris; no opponent or date has been confirmed.
Germany: No team or date has been confirmed for the 2026 Munich Game; the game will be played at Allianz Arena.
Mexico: No team or date has been confirmed for the 2026 Mexico Game; the game will be played at Estadio Banorte.
Spain: The Green Bay Packers have been confirmed to play in Madrid; no opponent or date has been confirmed.
United Kingdom: Two games will be played at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with no date or teams confirmed; a third game will be played at Wembley Stadium, with the Jacksonville Jaguars already confirmed.
Nine games abroad is a record in a single season. In the past, Roger Goodell has mentioned the league’s desire to host 16 regular-season games outside the U.S., focusing on different markets to expand the game.

In 2025, the NFL also hosted a game in Ireland. Despite a successful afternoon for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Minnesota Vikings, there will be no second game in Dublin this season.
This will be the second regular-season game for the Cowboys outside the U.S. Jerry Jones’ team played in the United Kingdom in 2014, winning against the Jacksonville Jaguars 31-17. The Jaguars have played a game in the United Kingdom every year since 2013, except for the COVID-19 ravaged 2020 season.
Rumors are flying about the other games, but so far, there have been few confirmations. The league will release its full 2026 schedule in May.
The likelihood is that, except for the Jaguars’ game in London, most of the teams playing as the designated home team in international games will be from the NFC. The conference is set to have an extra home game in 2026, giving the league better opportunities to schedule abroad games and explore new markets.
