‘Coach Prime Isn’t Landing at the Star’ — NFL Insider Shuts Down Deion Sanders to Cowboys Rumors

    Published on

After several weeks of drama, an NFL insider reveals the Dallas Cowboys are not interested in landing Deion Sanders as their next head coach.

The talks of Deion Sanders swooping in to replace Mike McCarthy as the Dallas Cowboys head coach have caused a lot of murmurs. Coach Prime has hinted at staying put with the University of Colorado.

However, that hasn’t stopped the world from talking about the move. NFL insider Dianna Russini has stated that the Cowboys might not be interested in having him as well.

Deion Sanders to the Cowboys Looks in Peril From Both Sides

“Let me take the computer in here because you’re starting to talk that talk. I got to show you where I am. I love it where I am,” Sanders said in an interview recently about moving to the NFL.

Despite the 57-year-old rejecting the move, several started talking about his intentions behind the rejection. His former teammate and Cowboys icon Michael Irvin hinted at this being a negotiation tactic to get Jerry Jones to sign Sanders to a big contract. Russini in her recent report said that the feeling is mutual.

“Coach Prime isn’t landing at The Star,” she wrote. “The 57-year-old University of Colorado coach and Pro Football Hall of Fame cornerback has said publicly he wants to stay in college football, despite some theories that Jerry Jones is targeting his former star.”

“And as of now, I have not spoken to a team decision-maker interested in bringing Sanders in as an NFL head coach,” Russini reports.

This, in turn, could also be a negotiation tactic from the Cowboys owner. Current head coach McCarthy has only a few months left on his deal. With the team at 3-6, Jones will likely recruit a new HC for the next season.

Cam Newton Highlights His Issues With Sanders Coaching the Cowboys

In a recent appearance on ESPN’s “First Take,” the former Carolina Panthers QB argued that Sanders should move to Florida State University after Colorado. Cam Newton stressed that the FSU has more resources to help Coach Prime.

“I don’t think he would have the same timeframe in Dallas. Mike McCarthy? Four years on the bubble. Jason Garrett? Nine years. His quarterbacks: Dak Prescott, Matt Cassel, Tony Romo, Jon Kitna. Wade Phillips? Three years,” said Newton.

“In this day and age, everything has changed. We want right-now results, but we don’t have time to wait for nothing. We want a Thanksgiving meal with microwave resources,” he added.
