We are one day away from the 2026 NFL Draft, and the rumor mill is churning with plenty of talk surrounding each team and its potential selections. One team that recently became the talk of the first round is the New York Giants. Their recent trade of defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence for the 10th overall pick shook up the first round and now gives the Giants two top-10 picks.
Much of the discussion around the Giants and their 5th overall pick is running back Jeremiyah Love or Ohio State defenders Sonny Styles and Caleb Downs. However, there is another name the Giants seem very interested in: Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson.
Giants Could Make Surprising Pick at 5
ESPN draft analyst Matt Miller released his final mock draft ahead of the first round tomorrow. He had the Giants making a surprising pick at fifth overall; they bolstered their offense by selecting Tyson ahead of both Ohio State defenders.
Miller said, “With Love going to Tennessee in this mock, there are three real options: Styles, Tyson or safety Caleb Downs (Ohio State). In the three-way battle among the two Buckeyes defenders and Tyson, I’m told the team has Tyson as WR1. “No team did more work on Tyson or visited Tempe more than the Giants.”
ESPN analyst Jeremy Fowler added, ” The Giants’ coaching staff is very high on Tyson. So, if New York prioritizes such a thing, Tyson very well could become a Giant.”
There seems to be a lot of smoke around the Giants and Tyson as we inch closer to the draft. They need more playmakers, and he fits the bill. Also, he would be a great compliment to Malik Nabers. The Giants’ first pick can shake up the entire first round draft.
PFSN Predicts Giants Take 2 Defenders
Another mock draft by PFSN has the Giants going a different route than Tyson at five. This mock has the Giants selecting Styles at five and Downs at 10. That would be a great haul for the Giants, as it would immediately reshape their defense by adding those two players. However, the lack of offensive firepower around Jaxson Dart is something the Giants need to address.
“Their record didn’t exactly show it, but the New York Giants played tough against many talented teams in 2025. They received encouraging early returns from Jaxson Dart, but they’re still a few big moves away from competing for a playoff spot.
Sonny Styles has developed from a raw athlete into one of the top prospects in the entire 2026 NFL Draft. His instincts have shown plenty of improvement over time, and he’s an explosive, well-built athlete with a large tackling radius and the ability to make plays in coverage” wrote NFL analyst Jacob Infante.
This is the first draft class for John Harbaugh, and you can bet he will want some players who will help change the culture in New York. It seems clear that the Giants cannot go wrong with their two top-10 picks; however, seeing which side of the ball they choose will be quite interesting.
