With the NFL Scouting Combine behind us, the Miami Dolphins are deliberating who they’ll select with the No. 21 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
The Dolphins finished the season 11-6 but exited the playoffs in a 26-7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. This offseason, the Dolphins will work to extend quarterback Tua Tagovailoa while also bringing back explosive playmakers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. According to one NFL Insider, the Dolphins could use the 2024 NFL Draft to secure protection for their fifth-year quarterback.
NFL Insider Adam Caplan Has Dolphins Drafting OL Jordan Morgan
With the No. 21 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, NFL insider Adam Caplan has mocked Arizona offensive tackle Jordan Morgan to the Dolphins.
The 6-foot-5, 325-pound senior from Arizona appeared in 41 games for the Wildcats in his five seasons in school. In his final year, he started all 12 games and was named First-Team All-Pac-12. Despite playing a lot of college football, Morgan is still just 22 years old and gives the Dolphins their heir to the throne of Terron Armstead.
Armstead is 33 years old and has missed 20 games in the last two seasons. Extending Tagovailoa is a priority for the Dolphins this offseason, and Mike McDaniel will also be looking to protect his most expensive asset. Tagovailoa was sacked 29 times last season, the most in his NFL career. With a history of head injuries, the Dolphins need to exhaust every option to protect him.
Morgan showed off his speed at the NFL Combine, running a 5.04 40-yard dash — very impressive for his position and weight. Morgan’s athleticism fits perfectly with Miami’s vision of athletic, fast players.
In a stacked draft class of offensive linemen featuring Notre Dame’s Joe Alt and Penn State’s Olu Fashanu, Arizona’s Morgan is a very viable Round 1 option for the Dolphins.
The Dolphins have six offensive linemen set to hit free agency, including Kendall Lamm and Isaiah Wynn, who spent time starting for Armstead while he was injured. Utilizing this No. 21 overall draft pick on an offensive lineman will give McDaniel the needed depth and flexibility to protect his franchise quarterback.

In 2023, the Dolphins were forced to forfeit their first-round pick after an NFL investigation into possible tampering, and Miami sent the team’s 2022 first-round pick to Kansas City in exchange for Tyreek Hill. But barring a trade, the Dolphins will once again be making a selection on Day 1.
Caplan noted that with Armstead turning 33 years old this summer, the Dolphins have a big-time need to secure their left tackle of the future. Using this selection on a high-upside, experienced player like Morgan can help Miami plan ahead.
