Micah Parsons just shook up the NFL and the Dallas Cowboys’ fanbase with his trade request.
This wasn’t just a quick announcement. Parsons put out an in-depth message for fans, breaking down exactly why he wants out of Dallas and why it’s time for a new chapter somewhere else. That post set things on fire, with teammates like Trevon Diggs, DeMarvion Overshown, and Juanyeh Thomas all backing Parsons up.
What Trades Could Be Offered for Micah Parsons?
Meanwhile, plenty of fans just want the drama gone and want the Cowboys, plus new head coach Brian Schottenheimer, to get to work on finding a replacement.
Parsons, who finished the 2024 season with 43 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 23 quarterback hits, 12 sacks, and two forced fumbles, is a cornerstone for Dallas. But with no guarantee he’ll be back in a Cowboys uniform, other teams might already be circling for the chance to land the linebacker.
On a recent episode of ESPN’s “Get Up“, former NFL general manager Mike Tannenbaum threw out some possible trade ideas for Parsons and the Cowboys.

One big idea on the table? The Detroit Lions. Tannenbaum said, “The Detroit Lions, who desperately need another passer. They trade a first-round pick, two twos (second-round picks), and Brian Branch, a great safety. And if I’m the Detroit Lions with Micah Parsons and Aidan Hutchinson, we’re going to the Super Bowl.”
He continued, “Again, if I’m Dallas, I’m trying to rebuild. I’m gaining a great young player in Brian Branch. Seven interceptions and a few draft choices. Not ideal if I’m Dallas, but, it’s a way to cut your losses.”
Some on the show pointed out it’s a steep price for Detroit, especially since Branch means a lot to that team. Still, if Detroit is swinging big by chasing Parsons, this might be what it takes.
As for other possibilities, Tannenbaum pictured Parsons going to the Buffalo Bills for Ed Oliver and two first-round picks, or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers trading Bucky Irving, Vita Vea, and a first-rounder to Dallas.
This whole situation kicked off after Parsons’ contract talks with Dallas went nowhere. Parsons then put it all out there, calling out some behind-the-scenes moves and trying to set the record straight about his reasons for wanting out. Fans and players alike have largely rallied to his side, aiming to support him through the process. You can read more of Parsons’ story here.
Why Did Dez Bryant Back Micah Parsons After His Trade Request?
Once Parsons’ message dropped, it seemed like everyone had an opinion on where things stood for the Cowboys. Most folks lined up with Parsons, but some did wonder if he had gone a bit too far with the public move.
One Cowboys legend who had Parsons’ back was Dez Bryant. He spoke out in support, writing:

“I respect that you are standing on business because a lot of us have failed due to lack of knowledge. What you are doing is much bigger than the game of football,” Bryant said.
Right now, nobody has the final answer when it comes to Parsons’ future. Still, with the 2025 NFL regular season just weeks away, all eyes are on Dallas to see how the team handles it and what comes next for one of football’s brightest young stars.
