Week 2 of the NFL season is almost in the books, but there’s still Monday night and the NFL has the first of four double-headers that are scheduled for Monday nights going off tonight.
The Houston Texans and quarterback C.J. Stroud will kick off the night at 7 p.m. ET, and quarterback Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will follow at 10 p.m. ET. The Las Vegas Raiders and quarterback Geno Smith will finish the night and Week 2 by hosting quarterback Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers at 10 p.m. ET.

Tampa Bay is coming off a dramatic, nail-biting 23-20 win on the road against the Atlanta Falcons. Mayfield threw a go-ahead 25-yard touchdown pass to Emeka Egbuka with 59 seconds left. The Bucs had to sweat out the end of the game as Atlanta moved into position to tie things up, but Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo missed a potential game-tying field goal.

Houston will be looking for their first win after coming up short in a physical game against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1. The Texans’ running game has been challenged by the loss of Joe Mixon to a foot injury, and they reshuffled their offensive line during the offseason. However, they still sport one of the NFL’s most rugged defenses.
It’s an interesting matchup. The Texans’ defense will have to step up to stop the Bucs’ high-powered offense to have a chance to win.
Los Angeles Chargers vs. Las Vegas Raiders
- Time: 10:00 p.m. ET
- Broadcast: ESPN
Both teams enter the game with 1-0 records. The Chargers took care of business against the Kansas City Chiefs in the season-opener in Brazil, but now they have to face a resurgent Raiders team led by head coach Pete Carroll that beat the Patriots 20-13.
Carroll and Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh have met eight times in the NFL and have a 4-4 record against each other in the regular season. However, Carroll won their lone postseason matchup when his Seattle Seahawks beat Harbaugh’s San Francisco 49ers in the 2013 NFC Championship Game.

Both teams are looking to make some noise in the AFC West. The Kansas City Chiefs have dominated the division in recent years, but with the Chiefs starting 0-2, both teams dream of their first titles. The Chargers haven’t won the AFC West since 2009, and the Raiders’ drought dates back to 2002.
The Chargers beat the Raiders by double-digits in both meetings in 2024, but they appear to be a more balanced team and improved their quarterback play by bringing in Geno Smith. The Raiders and Chargers matchup promises to be a knock-down, drag-out affair.
