With more than 400 players either signing new deals or receiving franchise tags during the opening week of the 2026 preseason, according to PFSN’s Free Agency Tracker, it’s time to evaluate how each franchise has approached the start of the offseason. We’ve assigned free agency grades to all 32 NFL teams based on their most significant additions and departures during the early wave of signings.
Be sure to check back throughout the week as moves continue to roll in and rosters evolve across the league. Grades will be updated as additional deals become official and teams continue shaping their plans for the 2026 season. Keep an eye on where your favorite team lands, as these evaluations may shift with each new development in free agency.
Arizona Cardinals
Notable Signings: QB Gardner Minshew, RB Tyler Allgeier, WR Kendrick Bourne, OG Isaac Seumalo, DT Roy Lopez, S Andrew Wingard
Notable Re-signings: EDGE L.J. Collier, K Chad Ryland
Notable Departures: QB Kyler Murray, OT Jonah Williams, DT Calais Campbell, DT Dalvin Tomlinson, S Jalen Thompson
Grade: C
The Arizona Cardinals opened free agency by adding depth across several key positions. Quarterback Gardner Minshew signed a one-year deal, giving Arizona an experienced backup and a capable spot starter if needed.
The run game received reinforcement with the addition of running back Tyler Allgeier, while the offensive line was strengthened by signing veteran guard Isaac Seumalo to a multi-year contract. Veteran receiver Kendrick Bourne was also signed, giving the receiver room some much-needed depth.
On defense, the Cardinals added interior help with defensive lineman Roy Lopez. Special teams continuity was also a priority, with punter Blake Gillikin and kicker Chad Ryland both re-signed to one-year deals.
Atlanta Falcons
Notable Signings: QB Tua Tagovailoa, WR Jahan Dotson, TE Austin Hooper, LB Christian Harris, EDGE Azeez Ojulari, EDGE Cameron Thomas, K Nick Folk
Notable Re-signings: TE Kyle Pitts Sr.
Notable Departures: QB Kirk Cousins, RB Tyler Allgeier, WR Darnell Mooney, OT Elijah Wilkinson, DT David Onyemata, EDGE Arnold Ebiketie, LB Kaden Elliss
Grade: C-
Atlanta’s start to free agency has been a bit of a head-scratcher, with several moves that feel more like short-term patches than clear long-term solutions. The most surprising addition came at quarterback, where the Falcons signed Tua Tagovailoa to a one-year deal at the veteran minimum. While the move adds competition under center, it’s far from a definitive answer at the position moving forward.
The Falcons are also bringing in wideouts Jahan Dotson and Olamide Zaccheaus. Both players can contribute, but neither currently profiles as a clear-cut No. 2 option alongside Drake London. At tight end, the Falcons welcomed back Austin Hooper on a one-year contract, while Kyle Pitts was kept in the fold via the franchise tag.
Defensively, Atlanta focused on strengthening the front seven. Edge rushers Azeez Ojulari and Cameron Thomas were added to provide rotational depth and boost the pass rush. Meanwhile, linebacker Christian Harris could play a key role in filling the void left by the departure of Kaden Elliss, giving the Falcons another athletic presence in the middle of the defense.
Baltimore Ravens
Notable Signings: OG John Simpson, EDGE Trey Hendrickson, S Jaylinn Hawkins,
Notable Re-signings: CB Chidobe Awuzie (re-sign)
Notable Departures: OC Tyler Linderbaum, TE Isaiah Likely, TE Charlie Kolar, EDGE Dre’Mont Jones, S Alohi Gilman
Grade: B-
After the failed trade for Maxx Crosby sent shockwaves through their offseason start, the Ravens responded with a strong rebound, reinforcing their defense with key additions. Baltimore secured one of the top pass rushers on the market by signing Trey Hendrickson. The team also added safety Jaylinn Hawkins, providing additional depth and versatility to the back end of the defense.
Baltimore took a notable hit with the departure of starting center Tyler Linderbaum, a key anchor along the offensive line. The team also lost tight end Isaiah Likely, who had developed into an important part of the passing game. Those departures leave the Ravens with clear offensive holes that will need to be addressed as the offseason progresses.
Continuity in the secondary remained a priority, though, with the Ravens re-signing cornerback Chidobe Awuzie. With the defense trending in the right direction but the offense facing new questions, Baltimore’s next moves in free agency or the draft could play a major role in shaping the team’s outlook for the 2026 season.
Buffalo Bills
Notable Signings: WR DJ Moore (trade), EDGE Bradley Chubb, CB Dee Alford, S C.J. Gardner-Johnson, S Geno Stone
Notable Re-signings: OG Connor McGovern
Notable Departures: CB Taron Johnson (trade), OG David Edwards, QB Mitchell Trubisky
Grade: B
Buffalo wasted little time reshaping its roster to open free agency, making a statement move to give quarterback Josh Allen a true No. 1 receiver after a few seasons. The Bills acquired wideout DJ Moore in a trade, providing Allen with the kind of dynamic, proven playmaker the offense has been missing.
The team also ensured continuity along the offensive line by extending starting center Connor McGovern. Defensively, Buffalo addressed a key need off the edge by signing pass rusher Bradley Chubb to a three-year deal. The secondary also received reinforcements with the additions of veteran safeties C.J. Gardner-Johnson and Geno Stone, two experienced defensive backs.
Altogether, the Bills have taken meaningful steps toward retooling their roster for the 2026 season. With several impactful additions already in place, Buffalo’s front office appears intent on surrounding Allen with the talent needed to compete at the highest level. Still, a few roster holes remain, leaving the door open to more free agent moves or a strategic approach as the team shifts its focus toward the upcoming NFL Draft.
Carolina Panthers
Notable Signings: OT Rasheed Walker, OC Luke Fortner, WR John Metchie III, EDGE Jaelan Phillips, LB Devin Lloyd,
Notable Re-signings: WR Jalen Coker, WR David Moore, LB Isaiah Simmons, S Nick Scott
Notable Departures: OT Yosh Nijman, OC Cade Mays, RB Rico Dowdle, DT A’Shawn Robinson
Grade: C+
Carolina was fairly active to open free agency, making several moves aimed at strengthening key areas of the roster. One signing that quickly caught attention around the league was the team’s decision to hand edge rusher Jaelan Phillips a sizable four-year contract. While Phillips brings undeniable pass-rushing talent, some have questioned whether the deal carries a bit of risk, given the current market for edge defenders and his injury history.
The Panthers also landed one of the more coveted linebackers available by bringing in Devin Lloyd. The addition gives the Panthers a fast, instinctive presence in the middle of the defense and should help stabilize a unit that needed more playmaking ability at the second level.
However, the team didn’t do much to add explosive playmakers around the young quarterback. Outside of re-signing a few depth receivers and bringing in John Metchie III, Carolina largely stayed quiet when it came to upgrading its pass-catching group. One notable departure was running back Rico Dowdle, whose exit leaves a hole in the backfield and removes a versatile offensive option.
Chicago Bears
Notable Signings: WR/KR Kalif Raymond, OT Jedrick Wills Jr., OC Garrett Bradbury (trade), LB Devin Bush, DT Neville Gallimore, CB Cam Lewis, S Coby Bryant
Notable Re-signings: OT Braxton Jones, LB D’Marco Jackson
Notable Departures: WR D.J. Moore, OC Drew Dalman, LB Tremaine Edmunds, CB Nahshon Wright, S Kevin Byard, S Jaquan Brisker
Grade: A-
Chicago has taken a proactive approach to the opening phase of the 2026 offseason, making several calculated moves to reshape key areas of the roster on both sides of the ball. On offense, the Bears made a key move along the offensive line by trading with the New England Patriots for center Garrett Bradbury. The veteran presence arrives at an important time following the unexpected retirement of Drew Dalman.
Also adding experience to their defense, Chicago brought in defensive lineman Neville Gallimore along with linebackers Devin Bush and D’Marco Jackson, who was re-signed to maintain continuity in the middle of the unit. Chicago also addressed its secondary, adding cornerback Cam Lewis and safety Coby Bryant to help stabilize a defensive backfield that saw multiple departures during the opening wave of free agency.
One of the more notable developments of the offseason, however, was the team moving on from wide receiver DJ Moore. His departure creates additional opportunities for Chicago’s younger pass catchers to step into larger roles as the offense continues to evolve.
Cincinnati Bengals
Notable Signings: DT Jonathan Allen, EDGE Boye Mafe, Safety Bryan Cook
Notable Re-signings: OG Dalton Risner, CB Jalen Davis
Notable Departures: EDGE Trey Hendrickson, EDGE Joseph Ossai, TE Noah Fant
Grade: B
With the expectation that star pass rusher Trey Hendrickson would depart in free agency, the Bengals moved quickly to replenish their front. To fill that void, Cincinnati added edge rusher Boye Mafe and veteran defensive tackle Jonathan Allen, two players who can immediately strengthen the pass rush.
Bengals also addressed their secondary early in free agency, signing safety Bryan Cook to a three-year deal. Outside of Hendrickson’s anticipated departure, Cincinnati managed to keep much of its core intact. The team re-signed guard Dalton Risner to maintain continuity along the offensive line, while cornerback Jalen Davis also returned to help preserve depth in the secondary.
By quickly reinforcing key defensive positions while retaining important contributors, the Bengals have positioned themselves well heading into the rest of the offseason as they continue building toward the 2026 campaign.
Cleveland Browns
Notable Signings: OT Tytus Howard, OG Elgton Jenkins, OG Zion Johnson, DT Kalia Davis, LB Quincy Williams
Notable Re-signings: OG Teven Jenkins, S Ronnie Hickman
Notable Departures: TE David Njoku, LB Devin Bush, EDGE Cameron Thomas
Grade: C+
Cleveland has made it clear that reshaping the offensive line is a top priority as the 2026 offseason gets underway, making several moves to rebuild the unit from the ground up. Starting off by acquiring offensive tackle Tytus Howard in a trade with the Houston Texans, adding an experienced presence on the edge. They followed that move by signing guard Zion Johnson and bringing in versatile lineman Elgton Jenkins, who can play both guard and center.
On defense, Cleveland’s most notable departure came with linebacker Devin Bush leaving in free agency. The Browns responded quickly, however, signing linebacker Quincy Williams on the opening day of free agency to step into a key role in the middle of the defense.
With several key additions already in place, the Browns appear committed to rebuilding their offensive line while maintaining stability on defense. However, more moves will likely be needed as the front office continues to work to fill the remaining holes across the roster heading into the 2026 season.
Dallas Cowboys
Notable Signings: QB Sam Howell, DT Otito Ogbonnia, EDGE Rashan Gary (trade), S Jalen Thompson, S P.J. Locke
Notable Re-signings: RB Javonte Williams, WR George Pickens
Notable Departures: DT Osa Odighizuwa, DT Solomon Thomas, EDGE Jadeveon Clowney, EDGE Dante Fowler Jr., S Donovan Wilson
Grade: B+
The Dallas Cowboys hit the ground running in free agency, locking in key contributors while adding talent to strengthen their roster, and they haven’t seen any notable departures yet.
Running back Javonte Williams was re-signed on a three-year deal, securing a dynamic presence in the backfield, while wide receiver George Pickens received the franchise tag, keeping a top target in the passing game for 2026.
Defensively, the Cowboys acquired edge rusher Rashan Gary from the Green Bay Packers, and safety Jalen Thompson signed a three-year deal to bolster the secondary. Kicker Brandon Aubrey also received a second-round restricted free agent tender, keeping special teams intact as Dallas looks to build on its core.
Denver Broncos
Notable Signings: None
Notable Re-signings: RB J.K. Dobbins, OG Alex Palczewski, LB Alex Singleton, LB Justin Strnad
Notable Departures: DT John Franklin-Myers, LB Dre Greenlaw
Grade: C-
So far, the Broncos have focused on keeping familiar pieces in place on both sides of the ball, with no new free agents arriving in Denver at this stage of the offseason. At linebacker, the team retained Alex Singleton and Justin Strnad, ensuring stability in the middle of the defense and preserving a core that is already familiar with the system. Their return helps keep the defensive unit intact despite other roster changes.
Offensively, Denver also kept a steady presence in the backfield by re-signing running back J.K. Dobbins to a two-year deal. Dobbins brings reliability in the run game, giving the Broncos a trusted option as they continue to shape the offense around quarterback Bo Nix.
While the focus has been on retention, the Broncos did see notable departures along the defensive front. Defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers and linebacker Dre Greenlaw both left in free agency. With those holes emerging on defense and limited activity in adding outside talent, Denver could soon shift gears as the offseason progresses.
Detroit Lions
Notable Signings: RB Isiah Pacheco, OC Cade Mays, OT Larry Borom, OG Juice Scruggs (trade), CB Roger McCreary
Notable Re-signings: QB Teddy Bridgewater, CB Rock Ya-Sin
Notable Departures: RB David Montgomery, OT Taylor Decker, DT Roy Lopez, EDGE Al-Quadin Muhammad, LB Alex Anzalone
Grade: B
Detroit added center Cade Mays and tackle Larry Borom on free agent deals, bringing in additional depth to stabilize the trenches. The Lions also made a notable trade with the Houston Texans, acquiring guard Juice Scruggs along with additional draft assets in exchange for running back David Montgomery.
Montgomery’s departure didn’t leave the Lions searching long for help at running back, as Isaiah Pacheco quickly emerged as the replacement. Pacheco’s explosive running style adds another dynamic element to the ground game and pairs well with rising star Jahmyr Gibbs.
Through these early moves, Detroit has made its intentions clear: keep quarterback Jared Goff protected and maintain one of the NFL’s most dangerous rushing attacks. With the offensive side of the ball receiving early attention in free agency, the Lions are now expected to shift their focus to the defensive side during the upcoming NFL Draft as they look to round out a roster built to contend in 2026.
Green Bay Packers
Notable Signings: CB Benjamin St-Juste, DT Javon Hargrave, LB Zaire Franklin (trade)
Notable Re-signings: DE Brenton Cox Jr.
Notable Departures: QB Malik Willis, WR Romeo Doubs, EDGE Kingsley Enagbare, EDGE Rashan Gary
Grade: C-
Green Bay’s start to free agency has been short, but the offseason hasn’t been without its share of change. Several familiar faces have moved on, including quarterback Malik Willis, wide receiver Romeo Doubs, and edge rusher Kingsley Enagbare, all of whom landed with new teams. The Packers also made a significant move by trading star pass rusher Rashan Gary to the Dallas Cowboys, creating a major shift along the defensive front.
Despite the departures, Green Bay did make a couple of meaningful additions on defense. The biggest move came via trade, with the Packers acquiring linebacker Zaire Franklin from the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for defensive tackle Colby Wooden.
Outside of defensive upgrades, however, Green Bay has remained fairly conservative during the opening stretch of free agency. With several roster spots still to evaluate and the NFL Draft approaching, the Packers may simply be taking a patient approach as they look to shape the next phase of the roster.
Houston Texans
Notable Signings: RB David Montgomery, OG Evan Brown, OT Braden Smith, DT Logan Hall, S Reed Blankenship
Notable Re-signings: OT Trent Brown, OG Ed Ingram
Notable Departures: RB Joe Mixon, WR Christian Kirk, OT Tytus Howard, OG Juice Scruggs, DT Sheldon Rankins, DT Tim Settle
Grade: B+
The Houston Texans have started free agency aggressively, focusing on adding veteran talent while maintaining core contributors. Running back David Montgomery was acquired in a trade with the Detroit Lions, giving Houston a proven playmaker in the backfield.
Tight end Dalton Schultz was re-signed to a one-year extension, while the offensive line retained depth with tackle Trent Brown and guard Ed Ingram returning. Braden Smith will also be joining the team as some much-needed reinforcement to the offensive line.
The defensive front was strengthened further with the addition of Logan Hall from Tampa Bay, and safety Reed Blankenship was added to the secondary. Houston’s approach blends veteran experience with stability as they look to improve across the roster in 2026.
Indianapolis Colts
Notable Signings: DT Michael Clemons, DT Colby Wooden, EDGE Arden Key
Notable Re-signings: QB Daniel Jones, WR Alec Pierce, TE Mo Alie-Cox
Notable Departures: WR Michael Pittman, OT Braden Smith, DT Neville Gallimore, EDGE Kwity Paye, LB Zaire Franklin, S Nick Cross
Grade: A-
The Colts addressed both of their top offseason priority by re-signing Daniel Jones to an extension and wide receiver Alec Pierce to a four-year deal, keeping the duo intact for years to come in Indianapolis.
The defense was bolstered with edge rusher Arden Key on a two-year, $20 million deal and the acquisition of defensive tackle Colby Wooden in a trade with the Green Bay Packers for Zaire Franklin.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Notable Signings: RB Chris Rodriguez
Notable Re-signings:Â CB Montaric Brown, CB Christian Braswell
Notable Departures: RB Travis Etienne Jr., LB Devin Lloyd, CB Greg Newsome II
Grade: D
Jacksonville’s start to free agency has been unusually quiet, with the team making few additions while watching several key contributors walk out the door. The Jaguars absorbed significant losses on defense, parting ways with linebacker Devin Lloyd and cornerback Greg Newsome, both of whom had been important pieces of the unit.
So far, Jacksonville’s lone notable move has been the signing of running back Chris Rodriguez, who projects more as a depth option than a direct replacement for Travis Etienne Jr. While Rodriguez could provide physicality and rotational value, the move does little to address the broader offensive production Etienne brought to the team.
The Jaguars’ measured approach to free agency stands out even more considering their limited draft capital in the early rounds of the upcoming NFL Draft. With fewer premium picks available, many expected Jacksonville to be more aggressive on the open market to fill roster gaps.
Kansas City Chiefs
Notable Signings: RB Kenneth Walker, DL Khyiris Tonga, S Alohi Gilman,
Notable Re-signings: TE Travis Kelce, WR Tyquan Thornton
Notable Departures: OT Jawaan Taylor, WR Marquise Brown, RB Isaiah Pacheco, RB Kareem Hunt, CB Jaylen Watson, CB Trent McDuffie, S Bryan Cook, LB Leo Chenal
Grade: B+
Kansas City addressed its biggest offseason need by adding a true lead running back, signing Kenneth Walker III to a three-year deal worth up to $45 million. Walker gives the Chiefs a legitimate RB1 heading into the 2026 season and adds another explosive weapon to an already dangerous offense.
The team also made several defensive additions to help offset key departures. After losing safety Bryan Cook in free agency, Kansas City brought in Alohi Gillman to help stabilize the secondary. The Chiefs also added defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga, bolstering the defensive front with size and run-stopping ability.
However, the Chiefs did suffer some notable losses. Two starting cornerbacks departed in free agency, leaving a clear hole in the secondary that the team will need to address. The defense also lost linebacker Leo Chenal, creating another need in the front seven.
Las Vegas Raiders
Notable Signings: WR Jalen Nailor, OC Tyler Linderbaum, EDGE Kwity Paye, LB Nakobe Dean, LB Quay Walker, CB Taron Johnson (trade)
Notable Re-signings: CB Eric Stokes
Notable Departures: QB Geno Smith, OG Alex Cappa, OG Dylan Parham
Grade: A
Las Vegas opened the offseason with a headline-grabbing move, agreeing to trade star edge rusher Maxx Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens. However, the deal ultimately collapsed after Crosby failed his physical. It now appears likely that Crosby will remain in Las Vegas, and the team has since focused on reshaping the roster during the first wave of free agency.
On offense, the Raiders added speed to the receiving corps by signing wideout Jalen Nailor in free agency. The biggest investment came up front, where the team secured center Tyler Linderbaum on a massive three-year, $81 million contract, giving the offense a cornerstone presence in the middle of the offensive line.
Defensively, Las Vegas prioritized reinforcing the front seven. Edge rusher Kwity Paye was brought back to maintain continuity on the defensive line, while linebackers Nakobe Dean and Quay Walker were both signed to multi-year deals to strengthen the middle of the defense.
Los Angeles Chargers
Notable Signings: FB Alec Ingold, TE Charlie Kolar, OC Tyler Biadasz, OC Cole Strange,
Notable Re-signings: EDGE Khalil Mack (re-sign)
Notable Departures: RB Najee Harris, WR Keenan Allen, TE Will Dissly, OG Zion Johnson, OC Bradley Bozeman, DT Da’Shawn Hand, EDGE Odafe Oweh, S Tony Jefferson
Grade: D
Despite entering the offseason with one of the largest salary cap cushions in the NFL, the Los Angeles Chargers have taken a surprisingly conservative approach to free agency. That restraint comes even as the team has seen several starters depart on both sides of the ball.
Along the offensive line, the Chargers addressed a key need by bringing in center Tyler Biadasz from the Washington Commanders to stabilize the middle of the unit. Los Angeles also added tight end Charlie Kolar, giving quarterback Justin Herbert another potential target in the passing game and some added versatility at the position.
Even with these additions, the biggest question surrounding the Chargers remains their lack of a true No. 1 wide receiver. With plenty of cap space still available, Los Angeles has the flexibility to make a significant move, and it may need to do exactly that if it wants to maximize Herbert’s prime and keep pace in a competitive AFC.
Los Angeles Rams
Notable Signings: CB Jaylen Watson, CB Trent McDuffie (trade),
Notable Re-signings: TE Tyler Higbee, S Kam Curl
Notable Departures: QB Jimmy Garoppolo, WR Tutu Atwell, CB Cobie Durant, CB Roger McCreary
Grade: A-
The Los Angeles Rams are going all-in for another Super Bowl push, potentially making this Matthew Stafford’s final season under center. The Rams have reinforced key positions, re-signing tight end Tyler Higbee and tackle David Quessenberry to maintain offensive stability.
On defense, they made a blockbuster trade for cornerback Trent McDuffie from the Kansas City Chiefs, while also locking in CB Jaylen Watson and safety Kamren Curl on multi-year deals. With this flurry of moves, Los Angeles is clearly positioning itself for a championship-caliber roster in 2026.
Miami Dolphins
Notable Signings: QB Malik Willis, EDGE David Ojabo, LB Josh Uche, CB Darrell Baker, S Lonnie Johnson, K Zane Gonzalez
Notable Re-signings: TE Greg Dulcich, CB AJ Green
Notable Departures: QB Tua Tagovailoa, OT Larry Borom, OG Cole Strange, TE Darren Waller, EDGE Bradley Chubb, S Minkah Fitzpatrick, K Jason Sanders
Grade: C+
Miami has moved quickly, reshaping the roster in free agency and ushering in a new era following the departure of head coach Mike McDaniel. The most notable change came at quarterback, as the Dolphins parted ways with Tua Tagovailoa and brought in Malik Willis, a young signal-caller who could get the opportunity to compete for the starting role in 2026.
Miami also strengthened its pass rush by adding David Ojabo and Josh Uche to the fray. In the secondary, the Dolphins brought in defensive backs Darrell Baker and Lonnie Johnson, adding depth and competition to the defensive backfield.
While the defense has seen several reinforcements, the offense took a major hit with the departure of star wide receiver Tyreek Hill. Replacing a player with Hill’s elite speed and game-breaking ability will be no easy task. With several bold changes already made, the Dolphins appear committed to turning the page and reshaping the roster going forward.
Minnesota Vikings
Notable Signings: QB Kyler Murray, CB James Pierre
Notable Re-signings: RB Aaron Jones, LB Eric Wilson
Notable Departures: WR Jalen Nailor, DT Javon Hargrave, DT Jonathan Allen, LB Eric Wilson, S Harrison Smith
Grade: D+
The Minnesota Vikings have started free agency slowly, even after losing wide receiver Jalen Nailor. With superstar Justin Jefferson leading the offense, Minnesota still struggles to establish a clear identity or direction.
So far, the team has added cornerback James Pierre to provide depth in the secondary and re-signed linebacker Eric Wilson to maintain stability on defense.
Outside of these moves, the Vikings remain largely stagnant, leaving questions about how they will balance their roster and support Jefferson’s elite talent in 2026.
New England Patriots
Notable Signings: WR Romeo Doubs, OG Alijah Vera-Tucker, DL Dre’Mont Jones, S Kevin Byard
Notable Re-signings: None
Notable Departures: WR Stefon Diggs, TE Austin Hooper, OC Garrett Bradbury, DT Khyiris Tonga, EDGE K’Lavon Chaisson, S Jaylinn Hawkins
Grade: C
Making an early splash by acquiring wide receiver Romeo Doubs, the Patriots followed it up with another veteran addition, signing safety Kevin Byard to bring experience and stability to the back end of their secondary. However, New England did lose a pair of contributors in free agency. Safety Jaylinn Hawkins and edge rusher K’Lavon Chaisson both departed.
Even with the additions made so far, New England still has work to do. Several position groups could benefit from added depth, and the offense in particular may need another reliable weapon to help accelerate Maye’s development.
The Patriots have taken steps to patch some areas of the roster early in free agency. However, with the NFL Draft approaching and cap flexibility still available, more moves could be on the horizon as the team continues building around its young quarterback.
New Orleans Saints
Notable Signings: RB Travis Etienne, OG David Edwards, TE Noah Fant, DT John Ridgeway, LB Kaden Ellis
Notable Re-signings: None
Notable Departures: QB/TE Taysom Hill, OC Luke Fortner, DE Cameron Jordan, LB Demario Davis, CB Alontae Taylor
Grade: C+
The New Orleans Saints could be preparing for a major shift in their backfield as star running back Alvin Kamara remains a potential offseason departure.
To bolster their roster, the Saints have already made key moves, including signing running back Travis Etienne, adding explosive playmaking to the backfield. The offensive line was strengthened by locking in guard David Edwards on a deal worth upward of $15 million per season.
Defensively, the Saints will add Kaden Ellis as a linebacker after Demario Davis departs. and retained safety Julian Blackmon for another year, giving New Orleans much-needed depth at both positions.
New York Giants
Notable Signings: WR Calvin Austin III, WR Darnell Mooney, TE Isaiah Likely, LB Tremaine Edmunds, CB Greg Newsome II, S Ar’Darius Washington
Notable Re-signings: OT Jermaine Eluemunor, OG Evan Neal
Notable Departures: QB Russell Wilson, WR Wan’Dale Robinson, LB Bobby Okereke, CB Cor’Dale Flott
Grade: B
New York took an early hit in free agency with the departure of versatile playmaker Wan’Dale Robinson, but the front office responded quickly by adding new options to the offense. Wide receivers Calvin Austin and Darnell Mooney were brought in to help fill the slot role and provide quarterback Jaxson Dart with additional speed and separation in the passing game.
New York also made a significant investment at tight end, signing Isaiah Likely to a deal that makes him the third-highest-paid player at the position in the NFL. Up front, the offensive line maintained continuity with both Jermaine Eluemunor and Evan Neal returning, helping preserve stability in the trenches.
The secondary also received a boost with the additions of Greg Newsome II and Ar’Darius Washington, two players capable of bringing versatility and playmaking ability to the defensive backfield. With several key additions already in place, the Giants appear to be building momentum this offseason. However, with free agency still unfolding and the NFL Draft approaching, New York may not be finished adding pieces to a roster that looks to be trending in the right direction.
New York Jets
Notable Signings: OG Dylan Parham, EDGE Kingsley Enagbare, EDGE Joseph Ossai, LB Demario Davis, CB Nahshon Wright, S Minkah Fitzpatrick
Notable Re-signings: RB Breece Hall, S Andre Cisco
Notable Departures: OG John Simpson, OG Alijah Vera-Tucker
Grade: D+
The New York Jets have spent the offseason strategically addressing their biggest defensive needs while maintaining stability, having lost only OG John Simpson so far. Running back Breece Hall received the franchise tag for $14 million, keeping their offensive star in place while negotiations for a long-term deal continue.
On defense, the Jets strengthened their pass rush with Kingsley Enagbare and Joseph Ossai, reinforced the line with David Onyemata, and added depth via a trade for T’Vondre Sweat.
Linebacker Demario Davis returns on a two-year deal, while safety Minkah Fitzpatrick joins in a trade, signing a three-year extension. Tight end Jelani Woods was also re-signed, rounding out a defense-focused start to the offseason.
Philadelphia Eagles
Notable Signings: TE Johnny Mundt, EDGE Arnold Ebiketie, CB Riq Woolen
Notable Re-signings: TE Dallas Goedert, DT Jordan Davis
Notable Departures: WR Jahan Dotson, EDGE Azeez Ojulari, EDGE Joshua Uche, EDGE Jaelan Phillips, LB Nakobe Dean, S Reed Blankenship
Grade: D+
The Eagles’ start to free agency has been relatively quiet compared to some of the league’s bigger spenders. Their most notable move came with the addition of cornerback Riq Woolen, a fresh Super Bowl champion who immediately upgrades the secondary with his length and playmaking ability.
Beyond that headline signing, Philadelphia has mostly focused on depth pieces. Pass rusher Arnold Ebiketie was brought in to help stabilize the defensive front, while tight end Johnny Mundt joins the offense as a complementary option behind Dallas Goedert, who recently secured a return to Philadelphia on a new deal. Another key retention was defensive tackle Jordan Davis. Keeping Davis in the middle of the defensive line ensures Philadelphia maintains a powerful interior presence.
Despite those signings, the Eagles have taken some significant hits on defense. The unit lost multiple pass rushers in free agency, along with linebacker Nakobe Dean and safety Reed Blankenship. Those departures leave noticeable gaps in a defense that has long relied on depth and rotation along the front seven.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Notable Signings: RB Rico Dowdle, WR Michael Pittman (trade), TE Jonnu Smith, OT Jack Driscoll, DT Sebastian Joseph-Day, CB Jamel Dean, S Jaquan Brisker, S Darnell Savage
Notable Re-signings: CB Asante Samuel,
Notable Departures: RB Kenneth Gainwell, WR Calvin Austin III, TE Jonnu Smith, OG Isaac Seumalo, S Kyle Dugger, S Jabrill Peppers
Grade: B
Pittsburgh has stayed busy this offseason as the franchise looks to reshape its offense under new head coach Mike McCarthy. The Steelers added a proven target in wide receiver Michael Pittman through a trade and brought in running back Rico Dowdle to help fill the void left by Kenneth Gainwell, giving the backfield a new dynamic option.
On the defensive side, the secondary received a major boost with the additions of cornerback Jamel Dean and safeties Jaquan Brisker and Darnell Savage. Asante Samuel Jr. was also brought back on a new contract, helping provide continuity in the defensive backfield. Up front, veteran defensive tackle Sebastian Joseph-Day was added to strengthen the defensive line and provide more stability in the front seven.
Even with those upgrades, one major question remains unanswered in Pittsburgh. The team still doesn’t have a clear starting quarterback, leaving the most important position on the roster unsettled as the offseason continues. If the Steelers ultimately plan to reunite with Aaron Rodgers, however, the foundation around him is steadily taking shape. Pittsburgh has already begun building a roster capable of supporting a veteran quarterback, improving both its offensive weapons and defensive depth as it prepares for the next phase of the offseason.
San Francisco 49ers
Notable Signings: WR Mike Evans, OT Vederian Lowe, OT Brett Toth, DT Osa Odighizuwa, (trade), LB Dre Greenlaw
Notable Re-signings: TE Jake Tonges, EDGE Sam Okuayinonu, K Eddy Pineiro, LS Jon Weeks
Notable Departures: RB Brian Robinson Jr., WR Kendrick Bourne, WR Jauan Jennings, DT Kalia Davis
Grade: B+
San Francisco has come out of the gates strong in free agency, making a handful of moves that have energized the fan base heading into the 2026 season. The major addition was veteran wide receiver Mike Evans, a proven playmaker who instantly elevates the 49ers’ passing attack. The team also reunited with linebacker Dre Greenlaw, bringing back a defensive leader whose physical presence and familiarity with the system should provide an immediate boost.
The 49ers also focused on strengthening their offensive line by bringing in tackles Vederian Lowe and Brett Toth. Both players provide essential versatility and backup in the trenches as San Francisco aims to maintain a high-performing offense. They also added talent to the defensive front through a trade for defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa, giving the defensive line another disruptive presence.
Perhaps most impressive is that the 49ers have managed to strengthen their roster without losing much in return. Outside of wide receiver Jauan Jennings, who remains unsigned in free agency, and a few depth contributors, San Francisco has avoided any significant departures.
Seattle Seahawks
Notable Signings: RB Emmanuel Wilson
Notable Re-signings: WR Rashid Shaheed, LB Drake Thomas, CB Josh Jobe
Notable Departures: RB Kenneth Walker, EDGE Boye Mafe, S Coby Bryant, CB Riq Woolen
Grade: D
Fresh off a Super Bowl title, the Seattle Seahawks have taken a surprisingly measured approach to the opening wave of free agency. The team’s lone outside addition so far has been running back Emmanuel Wilson, who is expected to provide depth behind the starting backfield.
Cornerback Josh Jobe was brought back to help stabilize the secondary. At the same time, the front office made its most significant move by locking up wide receiver Rashid Shaheed with a contract extension. Securing Shaheed removes one of the more intriguing potential targets from the free agent market and ensures the Seahawks keep a key weapon in their passing attack.
Despite those moves, Seattle has also seen some notable departures that could reshape parts of the roster. On defense, the exits of pass rusher Boye Mafe and defensive back Coby Bryant leave vacancies that will need to be addressed, particularly along the edge and in the secondary. For a team coming off a championship season, Seattle’s restrained start to free agency stands out.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Notable Signings: RB Kenneth Gainwell, DT A’Shawn Robinson, EDGE Al-Quadin Muhammad, LB Alex Anzalone, S Miles Killebrew
Notable Re-signings: TE Cade Otton (re-sign)
Notable Departures: RB Rachaad White, WR Mike Evans, DT Logan Hall, CB Jamel Dean

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers endured a difficult start to the offseason after losing key veterans Mike Evans and Jamel Dean in free agency, creating major holes on both offense and defense.
Tampa Bay responded with a few important moves to stabilize the roster. Running back Kenneth Gainwell was signed to a two-year deal to bolster the backfield, while tight end Cade Otton was retained on a three-year extension to remain a key piece of the passing attack.
Defensively, the Buccaneers added veteran linebacker Alex Anzalone on a two-year contract. While these moves add depth, replacing the impact of Evans and Dean will remain Tampa Bay’s biggest challenge this offseason.
Tennessee Titans
Notable Signings: QB Mitchell Trubisky, WR Wan’Dale Robinson, DT Jordan Elliott, DT John Franklin-Myers, EDGE Jermaine Johnson II (trade), CB Alontae Taylor, CB Cordale Flott, S Tony Adams
Notable Re-signings: K Joey Slye
Notable Departures: EDGE Arden Key
Grade: A-
With Robert Saleh stepping in as the new head coach, the Tennessee Titans are clearly prioritizing building a defense capable of executing his disciplined, scheme-driven approach. The front office wasted little time reshaping the roster, pulling off a notable trade to acquire edge rusher Jermaine Johnson II from the New York Jets in exchange for T’Vondre Sweat.
Tennessee also strengthened its defensive front in free agency by bringing in veteran lineman John Franklin-Myers. Meanwhile, the secondary received a significant boost as well. Cornerbacks Cordale Flott and Alontae Taylor were added to provide depth and versatility on the outside, while safety Tony Adams gives the Titans another reliable presence on the back end of the defense.
Perhaps most encouraging for Tennessee is the limited number of major departures. Edge rusher Arden Key stands as the lone notable loss so far, leaving the Titans in a strong position moving forward. With the No. 4 overall pick in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft, Tennessee is widely expected to target one of the premier pass rushers in the class.
Washington Commanders
Notable Signings: QB Marcus Mariota, RB Rachaad White, DT Tim Settle, EDGE Charles Omenihu, EDGE Odafe Oweh, EDGE K’Lavon Chaisson, LB Leo Chenal, CB Amik Robertson, S Nick Cross
Notable Re-signings: None
Notable Departures: WR Deebo Samuel Jr., OC Tyler Biadasz, EDGE Von Miller, CB Marshon Lattimore
Grade: A
The Washington Commanders moved quickly once the offseason got underway, placing a strong emphasis on upgrading their defense. Washington added multiple pass rushers to help generate more pressure up front and also brought in veteran cornerback Amik Robertson to add experience and depth to the secondary.
Offensively, the Commanders kept some familiarity at quarterback by re-signing Marcus Mariota to a one-year deal, keeping him in place as the team’s backup option. The biggest commitment on that side of the ball came along the offensive line, where star tackle Laremy Tunsil secured a significant contract extension that solidifies Washington’s protection on the edge moving forward.
In terms of departures, the Commanders avoided any losses that drastically shake up the roster. Center Tyler Biadasz’s departure does create a vacancy in the middle of the offensive line. However, it’s a position the team can still address through the upcoming NFL Draft or with additional cap space later in the offseason.
