Tom Brady spent most of his career looking every bit like the serious football star fans expected him to be. His life after football has taken a different direction, with fashion now becoming part of his public image. His latest Gucci campaign has drawn plenty of reactions from NFL fans who are struggling to connect the quarterback they watched for years with his new style.
This has left some fans asking whether Brady needs to start turning down a few opportunities.
Tom Brady’s Gucci Photos Have Left Fans Questioning His Fashion Choices
Brady recently appeared in Gucci’s fall-winter 2026 campaign, photographed by Michal Chelbin alongside Shawn Mendes, Alex Consani, and EsDeeKid. The campaign follows his May runway appearance at Gucci’s cruise show in Times Square, giving Brady another high-profile role in the fashion world.
Brady told GQ that he did not have much of a relationship with Gucci before receiving the opportunity. He initially questioned the proposal but eventually saw it as a chance to do something outside his usual routine. He also said he approached the experience without preconceived ideas about the brand or its designer, Demna.
Brady said, “I realized how unique the experience would be for me to really get outside my comfort zone and try something I’ve never tried. You have these once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, and that’s how I saw it.”
This willingness to experiment has not stopped fans from poking fun at the former quarterback.

Dave Portnoy shared the campaign on X and wrote, “BLINK TWICE IF YOU NEED HELP TOMMY!”
The reaction plays on the sharp contrast between Brady’s football persona and his new fashion work. One campaign image shows him wearing a suit without a shirt underneath, while his runway appearance included a leather-on-leather outfit.

One fan turned that transformation into a pop-culture joke, writing, “You either die a hero or live long enough to be a leather pants guy at 49”

Brady has made it clear that he enjoyed experimenting with the clothes. He said the leather outfit was his first experience with leather-on-leather and compared its structured feel to his former football uniform.
Lucy Burdge was far less impressed, responding to the campaign with “Delete this”

Some reactions also used Brady’s NFL history to make the jokes hit harder. Michael Hurley wrote, “Imagine being a fan of a team that was terrorized by a QB for 20 years and it’s this guy. Gotta be tough.”

Brady’s age became another part of the discussion, with one fan writing, “Becoming a leather pants guy at 49 is a level of midlife crisis I did not know existed.”

Another fan took aim at the career decisions that extended Brady’s playing days into his mid-40s, asking, “Was that last ring worth it?”
The one reaction returned to the basic question of why Brady agreed to the campaign. Sports analyst Joe Osborne wrote, “He realizes he can say ‘no’ to things, right?”
Brady does not appear concerned about the criticism. He has continued exploring fashion while maintaining the fitness routine that has helped him stay in shape at 49.
For NFL fans accustomed to seeing him in a helmet and uniform, watching Brady embrace high fashion may take some getting used to.
