‘Stop It,’ ‘Not Even Close’ – NFL Fans Roast Saquon Barkley’s Bold Claim That Eagles Are ‘a Top-5 Team of All Time’

The Philadelphia Eagles had an incredible season on their way to winning a Super Bowl. All-Pro running back Saquon Barkley was a major part of that as he ended up rushing for over 2,000 yards. Recently, his comments on the 2024 Philadelphia Eagles drew criticism from NFL fans online.

Saquon Barkley Has a Very High Opinion of the 2024 Eagles

Recently, Barkley was asked about his opinion of the 2024 Eagles, and he did not hold back the praise: “I think we’re a top-five team of all time.”

Of course, there are always going to be NFL fans who will disagree with a major statement such as this.

The words “not even close” and “stop it” were used by multiple fans on social media after this statement made it to X.

“Not even the #1 seed last year,” a fan wrote.

“2013 Seahawks > 2024 Eagles,” a user claimed.

“For the last 2 games they were great. But they aren’t even top 15 all time,” said one fan.

Despite the pushback, one fan expressed optimism that the best may be yet to come: “No, not even close. They have time though.”

Barkley’s statement is interesting, considering all of the great teams that have made their mark on the NFL.

Of course, you can’t blame Barkley for having such a high opinion of his team, which accomplished many great things in 2024.

Are the 2024 Eagles One of the Top Teams in NFL History?

The Eagles winning the Super Bowl means that they certainly have a reason to believe they are one of the greatest teams in league history — but to say that this team was a top-five team in league history might be a stretch.

It is hard to argue with the dynastic, Vince Lombardi-led Green Bay Packers of the late 1960s. The undefeated Miami Dolphins of 1972 are also one of the league’s most immortal teams.

Of course, the 1985 Chicago Bears had one of the best defenses in NFL history, known as “The Monsters of the Midway.” The 1990s Dallas Cowboys were quite impressive as well, as were Bill Belichick’s New England Patriots for nearly two decades.

You also cannot forget about the Joe Montana and Steve Young-led San Francisco 49ers or the “Steel Curtain” Pittsburgh Steelers. All in all, Barkley cannot be hated for having his own opinion of his championship team.

However, it is hard to put this Eagles team ahead of any of these legendary teams; they were all so dominant. While the Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, the Chiefs are in the middle of their dynasty.

Again, Barkley and the Eagles had a legendary season, but it is hard to put them over other historic teams at this point.
