‘[Bill] Belichick Would Never,’ ‘JuJu Is Losing His Mind Right Now’ — NFL Fans React to Mike Tomlin’s Surprise TikTok Video

Mike Tomlin has long been a cornerstone of the NFL. His tenure as the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers was the stuff of legend. But this offseason, he chose to move on from the role, at least for the time being.

Taking on an analyst role, he will remain tied to the football world. But a surprising TikTok video from the former Super Bowl champion left fans stunned and even reminiscing about some of his coaching practices.

After a mediocre 2025 campaign, Tomlin chose to step down from his role with the Steelers that he’d first taken in 2007. With a wealth of opportunities at his disposal, he chose to join NBC Sports as an analyst on “Football Night in America.”

Ahead of the start of the season, though, the collaboration is already stealing headlines. Maria Taylor, set to serve as the host on the show, posted a TikTok of everyone contributing on the panel. But what stunned fans was Tomlin starting and ending the video.

One fan joked, “Nah, Mike know something we don’t know. I’ve never seen him this unbothered.”

However, a few fans weren’t thrilled about the change in his media presence, bashing the move on social media: “Why do personalities do this crap! I am so embarrassed for them! They wonder why there ratings are [expletive].”

One fan even snidely pointed to another iconic NFL head coach, Bill Belichick, writing, “Belichick would never.”

However, it didn’t take long for fans to address the elephant in the room. During the 2020 NFL season, star wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster was making the headlines for the wrong reasons.

Videos of TikTok dances performed on top of opponents’ logos on their fields quickly went viral on social media. Tomlin chose to address the issue publicly, saying he would speak with Schuster to explain the importance of respect.

As one fan pointed out, “Juju is losing his mind right now watching this.”

Reporter Ari Meirov was aware of the irony as well. “If you remember the #Steelers’ TikTok drama with JuJu Smith-Schuster in 2020, seeing Mike Tomlin doing this now is 10x funnier.”

Another fan added to the hilarity, jokingly claiming, “Somewhere JuJu is watching this and thinking, ‘So NOW TikTok is okay?’”

For the bulk of his career, Schuster had paid incredible deference to Tomlin. As a result, it will be interesting to see whether he reacts to the video as well, even if only humorously.
