‘Nobody Wants Him’ — NFL Fans React to Giants Making Former First-Round Pick Available for Trade Before Deadline

NFL fans take to social media to react to the New York Giants reportedly seeking to deal away a former first-round pick before the trade dealine.

The New York Giants are apparently ready to make some moves ahead of the NFL trade deadline.

New York currently sits dead last in the NFC East division standings with an overall record of 2-7. With a lot of promise for the future with talent such as Jaxson Dart, Cam Skattebo, and Malik Nabers on the roster, the Giants still have a lot of ground to make up before being able to compete with the likes of the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, and Washington Commanders in the division.

That could all start with earning some draft capital by moving some veteran players around before the 2025 trade deadline. According to a recent report from one Giants insider, the franchise already has one name in mind to try and deal away.

New York Giants Ready To Move Evan Neal Before NFL Trade Deadline

According to a report from NFL insider Josina Anderson, the Giants are looking to trade the veteran guard at some point today. Neal is a former 2022 first-round draft pick for the Giants, who selected him with the seventh overall pick in the NFL Draft that year.

However, the six-foot-seven, 340-pounder has dealt with injuries and performance concerns since entering the league. New York now sees Neal as a piece they’re willing to deal away, in hopes of getting some vital draft capital in return.

Fans took to X to react to the news of Neal reportedly being on the trading block. One fan pointed out on X that Neal only has eight games left on his contract, and whoever does trade for him would still need to re-sign him. “Lol who is giving up anything for 8 games of Evan Neal. He’s not under contract next year, hasn’t played a snap this year, is likely out of shape, and would have to learn a new offense. Last year, they could have gotten a 6 or 7 for him.”

Another fan poked fun at how low-value an acquisition he believes Neal to be in a potential trade. “Giants are looking for a bag of deflated balls and a future number 7 pick. No takers yet as the price is too high”, they said.

Some fans were a bit more sympathetic to Neal, suggesting that a fresh start may be what’s best for the young veteran.

One fan took aim at Giants general manager Joe Schoen, who he suggested won’t make any significant moves before the trade deadline, other than dealing Neal, who he considers to be a “bust” of a former first-round pick. “Joe schoen only move at the deadline is gonna be trading away his bust of a draft pick for a 7th round pick lmao. I defended schoen for too long he’s f**king awful,” they wrote.

Given that we’re approaching the final hours of the trade deadline, one fan suggested that, if the Giants “really” wanted to trade Neal, they had the first half of the season to get it done.

If the Giants do fail to trade Neal today, one fan suggested on X that the guard could ultimately get cut from the roster. “Id imagine if he doesn’t get traded he gets cut,” they wrote.

Finally, another commenter suggested that Neal is so bad that he should ultimately be sent to the USFL.

The NFL trade deadline is set for Tuesday, November 4 at 4pm ET.
