Typically, NFL fans would be happy to land a multiple-time All-Pro player, but Pittsburgh Steelers fans were furious at their team for trading for Jalen Ramsey. The Steelers landed Ramsey, but they had to move three-time All-Pro Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for the defensive back.
Steelers Fans React as Minkah Fitzpatrick Heads to Miami for Jalen Ramsey
While the initial reaction from Pittsburgh fans was one of excitement over landing Ramsey, a deal that had been rumored in the past but seemed to fall through, it was revealed during a later wave of updates that Fitzpatrick was part of the cost to acquire the Dolphins’ star.
While Ramsey is a talented player, Fitzpatrick had become a staple of the Steelers’ defense, spending the last 5.5 seasons in the Steel City and earning accolades along the way
One fan was upset at the cost, giving up Fitzpatrick, commenting, “We just traded Minkah ? What are we doing here.”

Another user claimed they got the lesser player in the exchange, saying, “Minkah is better than Ramsey man…”
Another fan defended Fitzpatrick amid comments by Steelers fans that his play was poor for the past few seasons. “Losing Minkah in the process is not ideal. The ‘he’s so a**’ crowd can sit down. You don’t know football.”
One more commenter felt bad for Fitzpatrick, as he was traded back to the team that drafted him in the first round, only to send him away after a year and a half. “I hate this for Minkah. He hated Miami and loved Pittsburgh. He was such a great player. Sigh.”
“I don’t like that we got rid of Minkah. Kinda pissed about it. Love getting Jalen but wish 39 could’ve stayed,” said one more fan.
Another fan shared that they were excited initially, but then realized the Steelers were losing Fitzpatrick to acquire Ramsey. “I was like wow nice grab for jalen ramsey… then saw minkah gone and said oh, thats an L.”

“I think losing our starting free safety is worse than adding a CB when we already had decent depth. Minkah was deployed like he was in 2022 outside the box, he still wiped out areas of the field and is a really strong tackler to prevent big plays,” said another Steelers fan.
One more fan posted a GIF to sum up their thoughts on the Steelers losing Fitzpatrick:

Fitzpatrick returns to Miami after nearly six years in Pittsburgh. He was drafted 11th overall by the Dolphins in 2018 and played 18 games for the team. The Steelers gave up a 2020 first-round pick to acquire the player, along with some mid-to-late-round pick swaps, and it was in Pittsburgh where he blossomed into a three-time All-Pro.
Since entering the league in 2018, Fitzpatrick has amassed 400 tackles, which ranks tied for 22nd in the league during that span.
