‘Shilo Sanders, Get Ready To Learn 53-Man Roster’ — NFL Fans React to Buccaneers Rookie’s Impressive Debut

Following his brother's debut, Shilo Sanders put in a spectacular performance, leaving the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan base impressed.

A spectacular debut performance for Shedeur Sanders raised the anticipation for Shilo Sanders to potentially earn a spot on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ official 53-man roster. An undrafted free agent signed to the practice roster, Shilo has the work cut out for him if he wants to be playing in the regular season.

For a defense that was in the bottom half of the league last year, head coach Todd Bowles needs all the help he can get to improve the unit. As a result, the rookie was walking into the first week of preseason with a legitimate chance of earning a role on the team. Facing off against the Tennessee Titans, it wasn’t until the second half that the team emptied its bench. However, once he got into the game, his impact was immediate.

Shilo Sanders Leaves Fans Clamoring for Roster Spot

Through the first half, Tampa Bay had separated itself from the Titans in the form of a 13-7 lead. When Sanders checked in, the defense had a prime opportunity to keep a vise grip on the Tennessee offense.

Right off the bat, the undrafted free agent registered an explosive play. Checking into the game, he went uncovered on the left side, leading to a direct path to backup quarterback Brandon Allen, as he made a brutal-looking hit on the QB.

Over the course of the half, Sanders got a ton of playing time, adding another solo tackle and some high-IQ coverages to his tally. It’s unclear if he did enough to convince his head coach, but the Tampa Bay fan base seems to firmly be in his corner already.

His hit on Allen immediately led fans to call him a “beast.” However, for others, it was a direct sign of the genetics he was bringing to the NFL. His father, the legendary Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, was a two-time Super Bowl champion and former Defensive Player of the Year.

A corner for teams like the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys, Deion forged his legacy as one of the best players in the secondary ever. As a result, some fans immediately reacted on X, stating, “Making his dad proud.”

Others, too, followed a similar tune, with one fan going as far as to say, “Shilo Sanders is gonna be the real one that lives up to his dads legacy I don’t see why he’s so overlooked”

His QB hit left everyone impressed with his evasiveness. However, the solo tackle also received praise, as one fan immediately reacted, “Shilo Sanders blasted Titans running back.”

But it wasn’t just the work that showed up on the stat sheet that made fans take notice of the youngster. As one fan noticed, “Shilo Sanders has made like 3 or 4 really good plays tonight, love that for him.”

All in all, it was an excellent first outing for the rookie trying to earn his spot on the official roster. Head coach Bowles has remained mum on the subject so far, only inclining to say that he has a chance.

Instead, he presented the preseason games as a series of “tests” that could determine his future in the league. For one fan, the results came back clearly positive, as he declared, “Shilo Sanders get ready to learn 53 man roster”

If they indeed are tests, then the evaluation from his fan base sounds like a resounding yes.
