In honor of Michael Penix Jr., a new street sign was installed in Dade City, Florida. The 25-year-old enjoyed his first year in the NFL last season, playing five games for the Atlanta Falcons.
After all of the team’s turmoil with former quarterback Kirk Cousins, the Falcons have opted to keep him on the roster for the 2025 season but are operating with Penix Jr. as their QB1 starter.
NFL Fans React as Michael Penix Jr. Has a Street Named After Him
After throwing for 775 yards with a trio of touchdowns and interceptions last season, Penix Jr’s 58.1% completion percentage was more than enough for Dade City to honor him. No matter how the 2025 season goes, Penix Jr. will always have a street named after him back in his hometown.
The University of Washington graduate nearly had 5,000 yards in his senior season as he looks to make an impact in his first full season as a starter.
“Dope stuff” this fan said as the Falcons posted a video of Penix Jr.’s sign being revealed. Michael Penix Jr. St. sits at a four-way stop sign with traffic stopped to reveal the announcement.
Another individual said “SB incoming!” as the Falcons look to build off of their 8-9 2024 season. Their only real competition in the division is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, whom they beat twice last season.

One fan proclaimed “That’s my QB” as not many are honored in this way. Penix Jr. has already made a massive impact on his hometown in such a short amount of time. It remains to be seen what sort of impact he could have on the city of Atlanta. Someone else added “Pretty cool for the local kid!” as it’s clear Penix Jr. will never forget where he came from.
Yeah the Falcons are winning that Super Bowl NGL https://t.co/j7XibKKzBD

“This is the coolest s*** ever,” said this fan. Following in a previous fan’s footsteps, this user said, “Yeah the Falcons are winning that Super Bowl NGL” in a bold claim. They will begin their season with a pivotal home game against the Buccaneers. Falcons fans remain puzzled after they beat the NFC South champions 36-30 in overtime and 31-26, but failed to make the NFL playoffs as they lost six of their eight final games.
Cousins had the team positioned at 6-5 going into their Week 12 bye, but his 15-9 win over the then two-win Las Vegas Raiders in Week 15 was enough for the team to bench him. At that point, it was too little, too late as Penix Jr. went 1-2 with a pair of overtime losses to the Washington Commanders and Carolina Panthers to end the season.
