Other fans are making games to make the experience of listening to Collinsworth more enjoyable.
“Here’s the throwback Collinsworth drinking game for tonight:
-‘Here’s a guy…’
-Mahomes Comparisons
-Inaudible Noises: Any guttural or excited sound he makes.
-Over-the-Top Praise
-‘Unbelievable’ or ‘exactly why he’s so great’.
-Comparing a player to mythical creatures or gods,” said one fan.

Collinsworth has mispronounced or incorrectly called players by the wrong names. He’s drawing heat for his incorrect commentary, which is beyond the criticism he usually receives from his usual audience.
Some of the names that he has reportedly mistaken are Tre Harris, Tuli Tuipulotu, Daiyan Henley, and Rhamondre Stevenson.
“Collinsworth is f***ing losing it man,” said one fan.
Fans often get on Collinsworth for his tendency to overpraise the superstars. He started after a sweet read option fake by Maye, which fooled the defense as he ran for a first down. It drew defense from Patriots fans, as they don’t want the same type of treatment for Maye as Mahomes gets.
Although Mahomes is one of the best ever, one fan wrote that ‘the glazing’ of the top players often annoys many viewers.
“Chris Collinsworth glazing Drake Maye. Remember [Cris], this isn’t Patrick Mahomes man, hope this isn’t a sign for the future,” the fan posted.

Collinsworth is aging, and fans are often struggling to enjoy the 66-year-old’s broadcasts. He likely won’t be going anywhere soon, but he will be on the call for NBC’s broadcasts for the remainder of the season at a minimum.
When he’s on, expect social media to be lining up to rip into him as they did tonight.

This was the first Super Bowl that I muted because Collinsworth wouldn’t stop ragging on the Patriots. Who wants to listen to the color guy dump all over a team? If Pat Mcafee had had an alternative broadcast I’d have flipped over to it. He’s just the worst.
