Louisiana safety Percy Butler has drawn interest from a trio of teams ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft. Butler has arranged Top 30 visits with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Seattle Seahawks, and Minnesota Vikings over the next few weeks, a league source recently told Pro Football Network.
2022 NFL Draft: Louisiana’s Percy Butler gets three Top 30 visits
A standout for the Ragin’ Cajuns, Butler will visit with the Jaguars, Seahawks, and Vikings in hopes of boosting his draft stock. Butler is coming off a strong NFL Combine performance, as he ran a 4.36 40-yard dash in Indianapolis, creating additional buzz for the draft prospect.
Butler played four seasons at Louisiana. He produced 167 tackles (9 for loss), a sack, 3 interceptions, and 13 pass breakups during his college career. He was also credited with 5 forced fumbles and 5 fumble recoveries.
Along with his work on defense, Butler was a special-teams ace throughout his time with the Cajuns.
Where does Butler project in the draft?
Butler had a strong final season at Louisiana. He produced 60 tackles (6 for loss), an interception, and 4 pass breakups. His 40 time should only help his stock as he looks to show off his versatility in the secondary.
Given his natural straight-line speed, Butler could be looked at as a prospect who can play both safety positions and nickel corner. He could also be used as a big nickel in certain defenses. The 6-foot, 190-pound defensive back could also be an asset on special teams as a gunner.
Butler is PFN Chief Draft Analyst Tony Pauline’s 218th overall prospect. Pauline has him graded as a sixth-round pick ahead of Louisiana’s Pro Day. Depending on his performance in the workout, Butler could see his stock rise in April.
His meetings with the Jaguars, Seahawks, and Vikings could also boost his value during draft weekend.
