Aaron Rodgers continues to make waves on social media. The four-time NFL MVP recently announced that this might be his final season in the NFL. Rodgers didn’t offer his words on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday, June 24, as a definitive statement.
But this is obviously something that he’s been thinking about for quite some time. Rodgers only signed a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. One TV sports commentator took offense to his comments and warned fans about Rodgers’ past.
Nick Wright Calls Out Aaron Rodgers’ History
Rodgers seemed utterly harmless until COVID-19, when everyone began to see a different side of the California native. Having been a part of three teams (Green Bay Packers, New York Jets, Steelers) in the past four seasons, Rodgers is looking to finish his career on a high note, even though the NFL faithful has seemingly turned against him.
FS1 sports commentator Nick Wright on “First Things First” made his viewpoints very clear when discussing Rodgers’ recent comments, ones that he doesn’t take too seriously.
.@getnickwright wants to level set on the Aaron Rodgers discussion:
“He is not a credible narrator…He also said he relishes the day he no longer is in the spotlight because he doesn’t wanna be in the spotlight, and he’s only in the spotlight because he plays football.” pic.twitter.com/pbI3CEqq5V

“We do this a lot with Aaron, he is not a credible narrator,” Wright said. “I think it is important to remind the audience that right before or after he made that announcement, he also said that he relishes the day he no longer is in the spotlight because he doesn’t want to be in the spotlight, and he’s only in the spotlight because he plays football.”
Wright believes that it is a “remarkable statement” as he pointed out that Rodgers has wanted to host “Jeopardy,” potentially be the Vice President of the United States, and then makes numerous other podcast appearances on the likes of McAfee’s show or even “The Joe Rogan Experience.”
Additionally, Rodgers had a Netflix crew film him 24/7 as his “Enigma” documentary series debuted during last NFL season.
“For the relationship stuff I can understand it, but in the last 365 days he has begged for the spotlight,” Wright said. “For him to say he doesn’t want to be in the spotlight right after he said this might be his last year, I’m going to take them both with a grain of salt.”
It makes sense if this is really Rodgers’ last year as an NFL player, but the 41-year-old isn’t ready to call it quits. He had a fine rebound year after his horrific start as a Jet.
While the team didn’t win that many more games than usual, Rodgers’ numbers were solid as he inches closer to making his Steelers’ debut. Ultimately, no one knows what to expect from Rodgers other than himself.
