NFL Analyst Rips Cowboys Brass Over ‘Dumb and Unnecessary’ Botching of Micah Parsons Contract Talks

Micah Parsons’ contract situation continues to draw criticism as NFL analyst Nick Wright blasts the Cowboys for dragging their feet.

Star linebacker Micah Parsons, one of the most dominant defensive forces in football, remains without a contract extension despite being eligible since the end of the 2023 season. While the Cowboys maintain that negotiations are ongoing, Parsons has not practiced for two straight days during training camp, and frustrations are mounting both inside and outside the organization.

NFL Analyst Calls Cowboys’ Approach ‘Dumb and Unnecessary’ Regarding Micah Parsons

Parsons, who recorded 52.5 sacks in just four NFL seasons, is headed into the final year of his rookie contract. Though he’s scheduled to earn $24 million on the fifth-year option, the lack of long-term security has sparked questions about the Cowboys’ front-office strategy. Parsons confirmed Tuesday that negotiations have stalled and his agent’s calls have gone unanswered, a troubling development considering his significance to the franchise.

“It’s just so dumb and unnecessary. There is an argument that of every single player in his draft class, he should’ve been the first one signed,” analyst Nick Wright expresses regarding Micah Parsons.

The 26-year-old edge rusher has been a cornerstone of Dallas’ defense since entering the league, earning All-Pro honors twice and Pro Bowl selections every year of his career. Yet with back tightness keeping him off the field and no movement on the contract front, tension continues to rise in Oxnard.

To make matters worse, Parsons isn’t alone in feeling the business side’s sting. Fellow defensive star Trevon Diggs, who is recovering from a knee injury, revealed that the team slashed his salary due to working out independently during the offseason. Parsons publicly backed Diggs, calling out the organization for what many see as an overly punitive move.

Parsons emphasized that he wouldn’t describe his absence as a “hold-in,” though it’s widely interpreted that way by observers. His decision not to practice and not join the rehab group speaks volumes about his dissatisfaction with how things are being handled.

Cowboys Risk Losing Locker Room Trust Amid Contract Turmoil

The Cowboys are at a crossroads: either secure the future of a generational defensive talent or risk alienating him during what should be the prime of his career. Parsons has shown loyalty and leadership, but without a contract resolution, the locker room’s morale and the team’s 2025 season could take a serious hit.

Whether Dallas can salvage the situation remains to be seen. What’s clear is that with each passing day, the narrative shifts further away from the Cowboys being a Super Bowl contender and closer to being a cautionary tale in contract mismanagement.
