‘Take It Easy’ – NFL Analyst Pumps the Brakes on DeAndre Hopkins’ Tom Brady-Randy Moss Comparison

    Published on

DeAndre Hopkins, the Chiefs’ latest addition, drew comparisons between Hopkins-Mahomes and the iconic Tom Brady-Randy Moss duo.

DeAndre Hopkins has wasted no time making an impact with the Kansas City Chiefs. His instant combination with NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes in Week 9, a 30-24 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was there for everyone to see.

Their chemistry sparked a lot of buzz as the duo linked up for eight catches, 86 yards, and two touchdowns. Hopkins is proving his worth as the playmaker Mahomes needed, and the Chiefs are still undefeated in the 2024 NFL season.

DeAndre Hopkins Advised Against Comparing to Legends

Hopkins, the Chiefs’ latest addition to its offensive arsenal, drew comparisons between Hopkins-Mahomes and the iconic Tom Brady-Randy Moss duo from the New England Patriots.

But not everyone is on board with the Brady-Moss comparison. NFL analyst Chris “Mad Dog” Russo urged fans to “take it easy” during ESPN’s First Take.

Acknowledging their explosive chemistry, Russo pointed out, “First off, the thing that’s interesting is that Brady and Moss never won a Super Bowl. People don’t think. They think they [Brady and Moss] won [a Super Bowl]. [Jerry] Rice and [Joe] Montana that first year, didn’t win one either. They didn’t win one.”

However, Russo himself is on the Hopkins bandwagon, calling him a “heck of a player” with a probable Hall of Fame future. He emphasized that the Brady-Moss connection was legendary and shouldn’t be compared lightly.

While the Hopkins-Mahomes connection is exciting, it’s clear they still have more to prove before joining the ranks of Brady and Moss.

Travis Kelce Joins DeAndre Hopkins Fandom

The Chiefs tight end couldn’t contain his excitement after Kansas City’s win over the Buccaneers. The game was a statement-maker for new wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who caught two touchdowns and quickly became a game-changer for the Chiefs’ Super Bowl ambitions.

In a postgame interview with ESPN, Kelce had high praise for Hopkins. Kelce lauded Hopkins’ unique energy he brings to the team.

“He is a swag champion and that just juices everybody. It gives everybody confidence… Hop is in the building.”

The Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes, look unstoppable as they chase a third consecutive Super Bowl. With Brett Veach and Andy Reid pulling the trigger on the trade, Hopkins has filled a major gap in the Chiefs’ offense, stepping in after Hollywood Brown and Rashee Rice went down with injuries.

Mahomes now has another reliable weapon in his armory, and Kelce believes this roster can “keep putting up touchdowns.”

Kelce even sent a bold warning to the rest of the league, boasting, “At least not yet (anyone has defeated the Chiefs).”
