DeAndre Hopkins Responds to ‘Washed’ Allegations in 2 Words After Sensational MNF Outing vs. Buccaneers

    Published on

DeAndre Hopkins, the newest member of the Chiefs' WR room, responds to the naysayers after a terrific performance on MNF against the Bucs.

DeAndre Hopkins had made a name for himself with the Houston Texans. However, it’s been four seasons since he left Houston, and he’s now played for three different teams since then.

After his trade to the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs, many expected the veteran to warm the bench. Following his performance on Monday Night Football against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, though, Hopkins delivered a message to those who called him “washed.”

Deandre Hopkins’ On-Field Performance Leads to Off-Field Response

Hopkins, in his second game with Kansas City, displayed a powerful connection with quarterback Patrick Mahomes. In the 30-24 overtime victory over Tampa Bay, the veteran WR registered 86 yards for eight receptions and two touchdowns.

After the game, the 32-year-old took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a message to the naysayers. Hopkins responded to a clip of Pat McAfee praising him and tweeted, “Washed King.”

While the Chiefs deal with multiple injuries to their WR room, the addition of Hopkins has been a revelation. Kansas City is now 8-0, and the five-time Pro Bowler is in the hunt for his first ring in a 12-year career.

Patrick Mahomes Is Full of Praise for Hopkins

After a closely contested affair with the Bucs, the Chiefs’ QB couldn’t help but praise his new weapon.

“I mean, he’s so good at winning one-on-one, and so to be able to have him down in the red zone, third-down situations, he does a good job of filling out and finding those windows kind of like Travis (Kelce) does,” Mahomes said.

“I think as he figures out the whole entire offense, he’ll get even better, because there’s some times he’s going places, and I’m like man, there’s a time and a place for that, but that’s what makes him great,” he added.

The thought of Mahomes and Hopkins’ combination after the WR has a better understanding of the Chiefs’ offense will be a scary thought for opposing defenses. The Denver Broncos will be next to face it head-on in their Week 10 clash at Arrowhead Stadium.
