NFL Analyst Hints at Strong Possibility of Giants HC Brian Daboll Getting Fired Before October

Brian Daboll’s job security hangs by a thread in New York. With Giants fans growing restless and the franchise desperate for results, one analyst believes the head coach could be out of a job before the leaves change color.

The question isn’t whether Daboll deserves more time, but whether he’ll get it in a city that demands instant gratification.

Could Giants HC Brian Daboll Really Lose His Job Before October?

At 50 years old, New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll brings an impressive resume to the table. Success has followed this coach throughout his career, from five Super Bowl rings to a national championship.

After leaving the Buffalo Bills, Daboll took on the challenge of trying to resurrect the New York Giants, a franchise that hasn’t seen the playoffs since 2016.

However, the team’s attempt to build around Daniel Jones has produced mixed results. The quarterback’s 24-44-1 record has drawn criticism from across the league. Like the fictional slasher Jason Voorhees, Daboll has managed to survive and keep moving, despite the setbacks.

But after posting a 9-25 record over the past two seasons, questions about his future are mounting. On FS1’s “Breakfast Ball” show, host Craig Carton made a bold prediction about Daboll’s potential early exit.

“If they get off to a 0-4 start, Brian Daboll might not be coaching them in October. Russell Wilson could play competent football for them, and they could be 0-4.”

What Makes the Giants’ Early Schedule So Challenging?

Carton’s concerns stem from the brutal opening stretch of the schedule. The Giants face the Washington Commanders, Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, and Los Angeles Chargers to start the season. While his prediction raises eyebrows, the analysis deserves a closer look.

Washington and Kansas City certainly present formidable challenges. Both teams have proven themselves as playoff contenders in recent years. But the Cowboys and Chargers? That’s where Carton’s assertion becomes questionable.

Dallas still employs Dak Prescott at quarterback, which makes any matchup against the Giants essentially a coin flip. Meanwhile, the Chargers face the challenge of crossing three time zones to play an early game on the East Coast.

These small factors often get overlooked by analysts but can play a significant role in determining outcomes.

The second part of Carton’s quote focuses on Russell Wilson, who represents the franchise’s best quarterback acquisition since Eli Manning. Wilson guided the Pittsburgh Steelers to a 6-5 record despite having limited offensive weapons around him. Before his time in Pittsburgh, he helped make a struggling Denver team look respectable.

Beyond the quarterback position, the defense could be the unit that ultimately saves Daboll’s job. The Giants have assembled a loaded front seven built around Dexter Lawrence. Supporting him are Brian Burns, rookie Abdul Carter, and free agent signing Jevon Holland. This defensive group has the talent to win games on its own.

The question remains: Is that defensive talent enough to keep Daboll employed? While an October firing feels premature given the circumstances, the organization needs to see tangible progress. In a market like New York, patience runs thin quickly, and results matter more than potential.
