The New York Jets are entering a new era, moving on from Aaron Rodgers and welcoming a fresh voice in the building. Former Jets defensive standout Aaron Glenn has taken over as head coach and is already working to reshape the roster in his image.
His first major move? Replacing Rodgers with Justin Fields. The Jets are hoping to unlock the potential that once made Fields a first-round pick. But according to one NFL analyst, that future might not be as secure as it seems — with veteran Tyrod Taylor waiting in the wings.

Tyrod Taylor Over Justin Fields?
Handing Fields a two-year, $40 million deal appeared to signal a fresh start and a clear QB1 designation. But with Fields’ production still lagging behind his potential, questions remain about whether he’ll hold onto the job.
Mike Florio of NBC Sports discussed the league’s most intriguing backup quarterback situations on Pro Football Talk, and he placed the Jets high on the list because of Taylor.
“He was the guy who was on the bench for four years with the Ravens before becoming the starting quarterback of the Bills,” Florio said. “He’s been to the playoffs, and we still don’t know what Justin Fields is going to be.”
Florio added that Glenn hasn’t fully committed to Fields, noting, “Aaron Glenn, the coach of the Jets, made it clear Justin Fields is QB1 in pencil.” He joked, “Most pencils have an eraser on the back end for a reason.”
Of course, the immediate pushback centers around Fields’ new contract. But Florio dismissed the idea that the deal guarantees long-term security.
“That two-year, $40 million contract Justin Fields signed — once upon a time, that’s top of the market. Nowadays, that says ‘placeholder.’ And it’s entirely possible it’s Tyrod Taylor who ends up being the quarterback of the Jets at some point this year.”
Taylor, a 15-year veteran, entered the league as a sixth-round pick in 2011. While he’s spent much of his career as a backup, he posted three solid seasons with the Bills, eclipsing 3,000 passing yards twice and leading them to the playoffs.
Fields, meanwhile, remains a wild card. He flashed upside last season and was on pace to finish 15th in PFSN’s QB+ metric, leading the Steelers to a 4–2 record in his first six starts.
Still, strong performances didn’t guarantee him the job in Pittsburgh, where Russell Wilson took over midway through the year. If Florio’s right, a similar scenario could play out in New York — even if Fields starts the year strong.
Justin Fields is the starter, and he will play well for the Jets next season. Stop the fake narratives and lies; there is a lack of content for views. You are hoping and praying for Justin Fields’ downfall. It is not going to happen. People will be surprised how good the New York Jets will be with Justin Fields at quarterback.
