‘Not the Optimal Play by a Long Shot’ — NFL Analyst Makes Strong Case Against Selecting Jeremiyah Love As a Top-4 Pick

Jeremiyah Love is being tipped to be selected by the Titans, but not all analysts agree that the RB belongs in the Top-4 of the NFL Draft.

Jeremiyah Love, the talented Notre Dame running back, has become a focal point of speculation as the Tennessee Titans reportedly consider using their fourth overall pick on him. However, NFL analysts remain divided on whether he is the right choice at such a high draft position.

Analyst Presents Strong Arguments Against Jeremiyah Love’s Draft Stock

According to ESPN’s Benjamin Solak, Love lacks the technical skills to warrant the fourth overall pick. Solak argued it’s not advantageous for a running back to go this high over wide receivers or offensive tackles.

“It’s certainly true that Love’s an excellent prospect, and it’s reasonable to argue that he’s safer than some of these other premium positions. But we know that running backs impact less of the running game than the offensive line does. So you’re not even auto-printing that impactful running game that Love might imply.” said Solak.

“Whereas if you do hit on Love, and the offensive line comes together such that you have a good running game, you’re still paying market rate for it. Jeremiyah Love to the Cardinals or to the Titans is far from a terrible pick, but it is from a long-term team-building perspective, not the optimal play, not by a long shot.”

Despite Solak’s arguments, the latest round of the PFSN’s Mock Draft offers a contrasting viewpoint: Jacob Infante believes the Titans will select the Notre Dame running back, stating, “They need playmakers on offense. After focusing heavily on defense in free agency, they’ll take the best offensive player available here.”

“Excluding positional value, I’d argue Jeremiyah Love is at least a top-five player in the 2026 NFL Draft. Still, he’s an explosive runner who combines sound decision-making between the tackles with elite speed, quick feet, and the ability to change direction, along with toughness that shows up both in the run game and as a receiver after the catch.” wrote Infante.

Even amid reservations from some analysts, Love, who ranks No. 4 in the PFSN CFB RB Impact metric with a A- grade, has proven to be a major explosive threat to opponents in college football, excelling in pass protection. The few fumbles recorded in his career (according to Sports Reference) bolster confidence that the running back will quickly make his mark in the NFL.

If selected by the Arizona Cardinals, Love will enter the NFL as one of the league’s highest-paid running backs due to the rookie salary scale. Meanwhile, there is speculation that Arizona may be “leaking” information about possible interest to other franchises in order to secure trade offers and move up in the draft.
