NFL Analyst Makes Bold Prediction About Jaxson Dart’s Battle for Giants QB1 Role Against Russell Wilson

The New York Giants have a decision to make about who should be their teams signal-caller in 2025. This NFL analyst makes a bold prediction about Jaxson Dart.

The New York Giants will have a decision on their hands as the season approaches at the quarterback position. After landing veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, they also drafted Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart in the 2025 NFL Draft. Now, the only question that remains is who will start?

Dart made a name for himself as the Ole Miss signal-caller throughout his college career. While he wasn’t the first quarterback selected in the first round, Dart found his next home after being picked at No. 25 overall. Now, this analyst makes a bold prediction about Dart’s battle for the Giants’ QB1 role against Wilson.

NFL Analyst Gets Bold About Jaxson Dart vs. Russell Wilson For The New York Giants QB1 Role

Recently on “The Rich Eisen Show,” NFL analyst Daniel Jeremiah joined the show to discuss his thoughts on minicamp season, including the impending quarterback battle for the Giants between Jaxson Dart and Russell Wilson.

“I’m pretty intrigued with Jaxson Dart,” Jeremiah says. “It seems weird. He’s with the New York Giants in that market… Everything I’ve read about Jaxson Dart seems to be pretty positive. I think he has a chance to play pretty darn early here. We’ll see how it goes.

“You just kind of listen to the worst of Brian Daboll, and you just get the sense that this was his guy. He’s invested in him, and he seems to really, really like him… It just sounds a little different with the way he (Daboll) talks about him (Dart). It just makes it seem like, ‘hey, this isn’t a redshirt year for him,’ as they hand the ball to Russell Wilson for a full season. I think we’re going to see a lot of Jaxson Dart this year.”

The references to how Daboll developed Josh Allen into a Pro Bowler for the Buffalo Bills are key to trying to decipher the Giants’ plans for Dart. There’s a comparison to be made between Dart and Allen as strong-armed, big-bodied, and mobile playmakers.

As Jeremiah envisions when he would first start Dart, he says, “Look at Week 6 to Week 7, 10-day gap there, after the Thursday night game against Philly, which by the way, with that group in Philadelphia, I’d be okay with him missing that game. That’s kind of where it would be. So it would be in Denver, Week 7. That’s my early prediction.”

Keeping Dart away from the Super Bowl champion, the Philadelphia Eagles, and their very good defensive front makes sense. However, the Denver Broncos are also expected to have a great defense in 2025. Denver’s defense ranked third in points and seventh in yards last season, per Pro Football Reference.

The Broncos would be a very daunting opponent for Dart’s first regular-season start. However, this begs the question: Will the Giants throw the former Ole Miss star into the mix that early? It’s certainly very possible.

It’s a sensible question when the Giants added 10-time Pro Bowler Wilson and former No. 1 overall pick Jameis Winston to provide some veteran assurance at football’s most important position.

Both of those moves were made before Big Blue general manager Joe Schoen traded back into Round 1 to get Dart with the 25th pick. That deal was struck to give head coach Brian Daboll “his guy” at quarterback, something Jeremiah believes makes it more likely Dart will play sooner than many anticipate.

Will Dart unseat Wilson and earn the starting quarterback job? It remains to be seen. However, Dart could very well be the Giants’ starter by the time the 2025 NFL season enters October or November.
