NFL Analyst Defends Shedeur Sanders by Comparing His Confidence to Deion Sanders’ in 1989

NFL analyst Emmanuel Acho has compared the confidence level of Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders in 2025 to Deion Sanders’ in 1989.

The popular show ‘The Facility’ released the clip of Acho’s statements on the social media platform X. In the video, he discussed the recent criticism Sanders has been receiving since the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine.

Earlier in the week, reports and rumors began circulating that some individuals believed that Sanders was “brash” and “arrogant” in preliminary interviews with NFL franchises.

What Did Emmanuel Acho Say About Shedeur Sanders and Deion Sanders?

Acho highlighted his belief that Sanders was very secure and confident in his skills, something that made others around him feel insecure.

“I think Shedeur Sanders’ security makes a lot of people insecure. I think Shedeur Sanders realizing, ‘Wait a second, I’ve made money before I got to the NFL. Wait a second, my pop [Deion Sanders] already taught me about the value of not only money, but the value most importantly, of myself,'” Acho stated.

He then continued by comparing the confidence Shedeur currently has in the 2025 NFL Draft process to his father’s when he was in the 1989 NFL Draft process.

“Furthermore, apple, tree. It don’t fall far from it. Who do you think his dad was? Remember, 1989, the New York Giants wanted to interview Deion Sanders. The New York Giants they simply said, ‘Hey Deion, we want you to take this written test…’ Deion said, ‘Hey where do y’all pick at?’ They said in the seventeen range. Deion Sanders said, ‘oh, I’m going to be long gone before y’all ever pick,'” Acho added.

In the 1989 NFL Draft, Coach Prime was selected No. 5 overall by the Atlanta Falcons. After a strong season with the Buffaloes, there is a very real chance that Shedeur is picked above the position Deion was in 1989. At this time, most projections have Shedeur as a top-five selection this year.

Will Shedeur Sanders Be Drafted Higher Than Deion Sanders?

Shedeur had a phenomenal campaign for the Buffaloes this past year and finished the season with 4,134 passing yards, 41 total touchdowns, 10 interceptions, and a completion percentage of 74.0%.

Due to this, PFSN NFL Draft analyst Ben Rolfe had Sanders go No. 2 overall to the Cleveland Browns in his recent 7-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft.

Though the Browns may not be the most exciting option available to Sanders, Cleveland does have talented receiving options in wide receiver Jerry Jeudy and tight end David Njoku.

Should this exact scenario be the case, Shedeur will have been drafted higher than his father, Deion, was in 1989.
