NFL Analyst Believes Shedeur Sanders’ Perceived Attitude May Be a Smokescreen by Interested Teams

NBC NFL insider Mike Florio does not believe any of the criticism he is hearing about Colorado Buffaloes QB Shedeur Sanders. While discussing the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft with Chris Simms, Florio outlined how it is quite common for teams that really want a player to spread false rumors in the hope that other teams do not draft that player.

He also highlighted how this went the other way as well, with teams who do not want a certain player to begin overly praising the talents of him in the hope that other teams reach higher than they should to select him.

Earlier in the week, reports and rumors began circulating that Sanders was “brash” and “arrogant” in his preliminary meetings with some NFL franchises.

Mike Florio Does Not Believe The Shedeur Sanders Criticism

Florio made clear that this was common in the NFL Draft process and did not think the Sanders criticism was fully accurate. The comments in full were posted on the ‘NFL on NBC’ YouTube channel.

“Implicit within your comment is that Shedeur Sanders could end up free falling out of round one. And there’s a lot of chatter out there about that. Now, I don’t know what the motivation for that is, we haven’t really delved into it yet. I don’t like to participate in the pre-draft stuff that is fuelled by somebody who wants him to fall so they can draft him.

Let me just refresh everyone’s recollection, or introduce this concept to you for the first time… If a team really likes a guy, people who work for that team, scouts and coaches, will be inclined to talk the worst possible about that guy that they can… so that he’ll drop to them,” Florio stated.

Shedeur Sanders 2025 NFL Draft Projection

It is entirely possible that the reports that emerged earlier in the week came from a team with a strong interest in drafting Sanders. He is a strong prospect who is extremely accurate, has a high football IQ, and is physically and mentally tough.

This past year, he had 4,134 passing yards, 41 total touchdowns, ten interceptions, and a completion percentage of 74%.

That amazing campaign has led PFSN NFL Draft analyst Ben Rolfe to project Sanders as the No. 2 overall pick (Cleveland Browns) in his recent 2025 NFL Mock Draft.

Only time will tell whether Sanders actually drops in the 2025 NFL Draft, however, it is evident that Florio does not fully believe the recent reports criticizing the talented QB Sanders.
