NFL Analyst Believes Shedeur Sanders Is ‘Really Missing Out’ by Not Throwing at the 2025 NFL Combine

Shedeur Sanders has been in the conversation for the best quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft along with Miami Hurricanes QB Cam Ward in this year’s class. While some analysts believe Ward’s decision-making on the field makes him the clear pick, others believe Sanders’ arm strength makes him the best quarterback this year.

However, now that the Colorado star has decided not to throw at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, analyst Matt Miller believes he’s making a big mistake.

NFL Analyst Calls Out Shedeur Sanders for Not Throwing at NFL Combine

The football world was surprised to hear the news when Ian Rapoport shared that the Colorado star will not be throwing at the 2025 NFL Combine.

Rapoport reported that Sanders would let his four years of film do the talking for him and that he plans to focus on his interviews with teams at the event so that the teams can get to know him better.

Talking about Sanders’ decision not to throw at the NFL Combine, analyst Matt Miller shared that he thinks the Colorado quarterback is making a mistake because he still needs to prove he’s a better quarterback than Cam Ward, which isn’t the case currently, according to him.

“It has become par for the course for top quarterbacks to not throw at the Combine. However, the point that I would make is Shedeur Sanders is not the top quarterback in this year’s draft. That’s Miami’s Cam Ward; and the fact is, this quarterback group is very unsettled,” Miller said.

“We don’t have a No. 1 quarterback like we did last year with Caleb Williams. … This is a wide-open race for the No. 1 quarterback spot in the 2025 NFL Draft.”

Miller clarified that he’s not a fan of this situation and shared that Sanders should be taking every possible opportunity to prove that he’s the best in the game, just like great quarterbacks like Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, and C.J. Stroud, whose draft stock improved after their NFL Combine appearance.

“This was an opportunity that I think Shedeur and his camp are really missing out on, where he could show that he is that No. 1 quarterback in this class,” Miller said.

The 2025 NFL Combine is set to take place from Feb. 27 to March 2. The event will start at 3 p.m. on the first two days and at 1 p.m. on the latter two days.
