Which Teams Are the Best and Worst at Covering the Spread in 2023?
The Lions stand alone atop the list of teams when it comes to their ATS record, with a 70% success rate. The Panthers, meanwhile, remain the worst team in the league at covering the spread after only managing to push in their matchup with the Bears last week. Carolina has covered just once all season, with two pushes.

The Lions are 9.5-point favorites this week against a Chicago team that has a 2-1-1 record ATS the spread in the last four weeks. As favorites, Detroit is 5-1-1 ATS and 3-1 at home. A matchup between one of the best at covering the spread and one of the worst would lean toward backing the Lions this week.
Just behind the Lions are the Vikings with a 6-3-1 record ATS this season, including covering in their last five straight. In three of those games, they were underdogs, as they are this week. Minnesota has an overall record of 3-1-1 this season when not favored.
They now face a Broncos team that is on a three-game streak covering to sit at 3-5-1. Denver has yet to cover this year as favorites (0-3-1), so they look to snap that streak on Sunday Night Football.
The Panthers face the Cowboys as double-digit underdogs this week. The positive for Carolina is their only cover came at home, as did one of their two pushes, putting them at 1-2-1 ATS at home. As double-digit underdogs, the Panthers are 0-2 this season, but both of those came on the road (at Detroit and at Miami).
