Projecting the NFC East Ahead of the 2025 NFL Season: Commanders Favored to Take the Crown

Even though they won the Super Bowl last season, the Philadelphia Eagles have just the second-best odds to win the NFC East at 43.90%.

The NFC East hasn’t had repeating champions since the Philadelphia Eagles won the division four years from 2001 to 2004. Could the 2025 season mark the first time that trend changes?

Coming off a Super Bowl victory, the Eagles are strong contenders to win it all this year. However, the NFC East figures to be a tough division this year, and the defending champions are accompanied by the team they met in the NFC Championship game last season. Using data from the PFSN NFL Playoff Predictor, join us as we look at the current projections for the NFC East in 2025.

4) New York Giants

  • Projected Win-Loss Record: 6.2-10.8
  • Division Win Probability: 3.40%
  • Playoff Probability: 8.90%
  • Super Bowl Probability: 0.20%

Theoretically, it will be hard for the New York Giants to perform worse in 2025 than last season. Coming off a disastrous 3-14 season, the Giants aggressively added talented players like Paulson Adebo, Jevon Holland, Abdul Carter and Jaxson Dart. The most important addition for 2025 is Russell Wilson as the new starting QB.

Despite all their additions, the Giants still have a flawed roster and play in a complex division. Wilson isn’t the superstar he used to be, and they still have question marks on the offensive line and in their pass-catching unit aside from Malik Nabers. They should be better in 2025, but don’t expect New York to make a serious push for the NFC East crown.

3) Dallas Cowboys

  • Projected Win-Loss Record: 7.4-9.6
  • Division Win Probability: 27.70%
  • Playoff Probability: 21.90%
  • Super Bowl Probability: 0.60%

Perhaps no NFL team had as chaotic an offseason as the Dallas Cowboys, and it didn’t stop until the end. The most significant and puzzling move came just one week before the start of the regular season, when the Cowboys traded Micah Parsons to Green Bay instead of signing him to a contract extension.

George Pickens and Tyler Booker are good additions to Dallas’ offense, and they still have the connection of Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb. However, a defense that had holes going into the preseason got worse by trading their best player, and new head coach Brian Schottenheimer is unproven. The Cowboys should remain competitive in the NFC East, but they have many moving pieces to solve before being considered a favorite.

2) Philadelphia Eagles

  • Projected Win-Loss Record: 9.8-7.2
  • Division Win Probability: 43.90%
  • Playoff Probability: 67.30%
  • Super Bowl Probability: 6.90%

Despite having the highest Super Bowl odds of any team in the NFC East, the Eagles narrowly missed out on having the best percentage to win the division. Nonetheless, the defending champions are a well-coached unit with significant star power on both sides.

Generally strapped for cap space, the Eagles lost contributors from last year, such as Josh Sweat, Milton Williams, Mekhi Becton, Brandon Graham and Darius Slay. However, if there’s one team that can overcome all those losses, it’s this group. An explosive offense and talented defense should keep them at or near the top of the NFC East all season.

1) Washington Commanders

  • Projected Win-Loss Record: 9.8-7.2
  • Division Win Probability: 44.00%
  • Playoff Probability: 67.70%
  • Super Bowl Probability: 6.50%

The Washington Commanders were arguably the biggest surprise of the 2025 season, going from 4-13 to 12-5 in their first season with Dan Quinn as head coach and Jayden Daniels as quarterback. Going into Year 2 of said pairing, the expectations before the regular season are much higher.

Offseason additions like Laremy Tunsil, Deebo Samuel, Javon Kinlaw and Josh Conerly Jr. indicate Washington could be even better in 2025. They’re listed in the PFSN NFL Playoff Predictor as having the best odds to win the NFC East. While a divisional win would be a huge accomplishment, the Commanders are surely aiming to go all the way this season.
