How Many Picks Do the Jets Have in the 2025 NFL Draft?

Currently, the Jets have eight picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. They’ve retained the rights to their original selections in every round but Round 7. They then added an extra selection in Round 3 and Round 6 through multiple trades.

The Jets’ extra third-round pick comes from the Detroit Lions, who gave the pick to New York in exchange for a 2024 fourth-rounder, which the Lions used to take offensive tackle Giovanni Manu.

The Jets’ extra sixth-rounder, meanwhile, was earned in a pick-swap trade with the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs traded that pick to the Jets for wide receiver Mecole Hardman and New York’s seventh-round pick in the exchange.

Over the last three cycles, the Jets have had seven selections in each draft. In the last two, they’ve only had two early-round picks in each. Thus, having eight picks — with four early-round selections — will be a welcome change in the 2025 NFL Draft.

What Are the Jets’ Biggest Needs in 2025?

Veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers signed an extension with the Jets that will keep him under contract through the 2025 season. With that said, at almost 41 years old, Rodgers is nearing an unprecedented age, and the Jets have to be prepared for anything.

If Rodgers indeed retires ahead of schedule — which could be a possibility given his return from an Achilles injury — then the quarterback position immediately rockets to the top of the Jets’ needs. And even if Rodgers does return for a final season in 2025, N.Y. will need a succession plan.

The most popular option among Jets fans, it appears, is Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders. According to recent MDS data, Sanders is the favorite of Jets users.

Texas’ Quinn Ewers also cracked the top five, and other quarterbacks like Georgia’s Carson Beck, Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart, and Houston’s Donovan Smith bear noting.

Beyond QB, offensive tackle could once again be a need in 2025, as Tyron Smith and Morgan Moses will both be free agents, leaving a potential void opposite 2024 first-round pick Olu Fashanu.

Wide receiver could also be an area of concern with Mike Williams on just a one-year deal.

On defense, the impending free agencies of edge rusher Haason Reddick and cornerback D.J. Reed cast both positions under uncertainty.

The Jets may seek more defensive tackle depth as well.
