A season that began with a lot of promise for the New York Giants has quickly fallen by the wayside. After bringing in Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston in free agency, and then adding Abdul Carter and Jaxson Dart in the 2025 NFL Draft, the hope was that competitive football would return to the franchise.
However, a brutal start by Wilson forced Dart to take over as the starter. But wins remained hard to come by, as injuries continued to pile on. Now, after a Week 13 loss, the 2-11 squad has its sights firmly set on the 2026 NFL Draft.
Can the Giants Get the No. 1 Overall Pick?
After three consecutive losses to begin the year, with Wilson looking like the worst version of himself, the Giants made the switch to their rookie to become the starting quarterback. Almost immediately, the results were palpable.
Getting a win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4, a new era of football was beginning in New York. However, the goodwill did not last for long, as a torn right ACL to superstar wide receiver Malik Nabers put a damper on things.
Still, the team was able to persevere, landing a shocking victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, thanks to an explosive performance by rookie phenom Cam Skattebo. As he became a phenom across the NFL, the injury bug struck the Giants again, this time leading to a season-ending dislocated ankle for the star running back.

Since then, it’s been tough going for the franchise, as the season has turned into an opportunity to develop a relatively young roster, particularly their rookie quarterback. As a result, the 2026 NFL Draft serves as a vital piece of the puzzle as the team has the chance to add another blue-chip prospect to the table.

With their Week 13 loss, their chances of securing the first pick also saw a major uptick. PFSN’s Playoff Predictor, as the name suggests, can give a clear indication of how the playoff bracket is going to shape out.
However, factoring in the strength of schedule and how the season is likely to unfold, it also provides an accurate estimate of what the standings could look like at the end of the season. For New York, that estimate should give an idea of the possibility of the first overall pick.
After losing to New England, the team has climbed to 18.00% to secure the first overall pick in the upcoming draft. They have the second-best odds behind only the Tennessee Titans (37.70%), who have just one win on the season so far.
