The newest edition of the “Untold” series opens with Vick discussing the desire and thrill of being an NFL quarterback.
“Everybody wish they could be an NFL quarterback,” said Vick. “You get all the notoriety, you get paid all the money.”
The trailer then shifts to flashes of Favre on the football field while two people discuss the “cult-like figure” and “football god.” Sterger then appears, where she discusses her experience with Favre while he spent time with the Jets.
“Brett Favre ultimately destroyed my life,” said Sterger when describing the “lewd texts and photos” she received from him.
“I was at a game and someone said Brett Favre wanted my phone number,” said Sterger. “I just kept saying no. I started getting text messages, and then I started getting voicemails, when I was like, ‘Oh, I’m in serious trouble here.'”
Following Sterger’s remarks, a short voicemail allegedly from Favre plays, in which he says, “I would love to have you come over tonight.”
The dogpile continues when the next interviewee says, “Maybe we shouldn’t be surprised that he got caught up in a federal welfare misappropriation scandal.”
Sterger concludes the trailer with a message fo
r all viewers. “When someone shows you who they are, believe them,” said Sterger. The Fall of Favre Trailer Reactions and Release Date
The trailer drew a mixed batch of opinions, with some intrigued and others not as much. The film pushes questions regarding our idols and whether, when they cross the line, their followers cross it with them.
Director Rebecca Gitlitz described the intention behind the show and how she believes it should be perceived.
“This story about one of the greatest quarterbacks in history goes beyond touchdowns and epic wins and lifts the lid on how when fame rises, sometimes accountability falls. It was made with the intention of laying out patterns of behaviors, told from the people who lived with the consequences of Favre’s actions, to ask audiences to consider if success should be a shield for harmful behavior,” Gitlitz said.
“The Fall of Favre” releases on May 20 and will undoubtedly pique the interest of many NFL fans, followers of Favre, and others.
