‘They Need To Find Some Help’ — NFL Analyst Names 5-Time Pro Bowler As Packers’ Answer At Glaring Position Of Need

NFL analyst Jeffri Chadiha links edge rusher Joey Bosa to the Packers as a crucial free-agent bridge following a major defensive injury.

The Green Bay Packers are facing a high-stakes start to the 2026 season with a massive void in their defensive front. Following the devastating season-ending injury to superstar Micah Parsons, who suffered a torn ACL in December, the team is scrambling to reinforce its pass rush.

With Parsons likely to begin the year on the physically unable to perform list, the pressure on the rest of the defensive line has never been higher. As new defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon looks to install a system that can sustain championship aspirations, outside experts are pointing toward the veteran market for a solution.

NFL Rumors: Could Joey Bosa Sign With the Green Bay Packers?

The search for immediate production has led some analysts to look toward veteran edge defender Joey Bosa. The 30-year-old played for the Buffalo Bills last season, where he recorded five sacks and forced five fumbles.

NFL Network analyst Jeffri Chadiha recently suggested on “The Insiders” that Bosa could be the perfect short-term fix to bolster a Packers rotation that lacks depth.

“Well, look, at 30 years old, Joey Bosa still has something left, but he’s more of a situational pass rusher,” Chadiha explained. “You saw this last year in Buffalo. He had four sacks for the first eight games, one sack after that, but he had some big plays in those early season games. And so I’m putting him with the Packers because they need to find some help at pass rush.”

The concern in Green Bay is palpable, especially following a disappointing campaign from 2023 first-round pick Lukas Van Ness. Van Ness appeared in only nine games due to a lingering foot injury last year, finishing with just 1.5 sacks and 19 total tackles. With Parsons sidelined until at least October, the Packers lack a proven complement to generate consistent pressure.

Chadiha believes Bosa’s versatility makes him an ideal candidate for Gannon’s evolving scheme.

“Until Micah Parsons gets healthy with that torn ACL, Lukas Van Ness is out there. He’s had 1.5 sacks last year and disappointed as a first-round pick. And so I like him with the Packers helping that new Jonathan Gannon defense get better. He’s played in a 3-4, so it’s a good fit for him.”

Gannon, who took over as defensive coordinator in February after Jeff Hafley’s departure, has been vocal about his desire to adapt his system to the players on the roster.

While the team has already added reinforcements like Javon Hargrave and Zaire Franklin, the edge position remains the primary focus. If Bosa remains an option, his familiarity with multiple defensive fronts could provide the veteran stability Gannon needs to weather the storm during Parsons’ absence.

Finding a veteran bridge player is essential to keep the Packers in the NFC title hunt until their defensive anchor returns.
