Who Are Chet Holmgren’s Parents?

Starting off with his father, Dave, who is a literal walking-talking basketball legacy. Similar to his son, Dave stands at 7 feet as well. He played basketball at the collegiate level for the University of Minnesota from 1984 to 1988.

His experience led to mentoring Chet for a future in the league. Right from the beginning, his father instilled in him a deep understanding of the game. While Dave’s own career was cut short due to chronic knee issues, his commitment went above and beyond traditional coaching to train his son, as he started recording Chet’s games on a camcorder.

One thing led to another, and soon Chet got productive and constructive feedback, working on his fundamentals from the beginning. This hands-on approach led to a significant development in his playing style and basketball IQ.

While his father had a proactive approach to shaping Chet’s career, his mother was a pillar of support for him.

Sarah Harris provided him with steadfast emotional support from a young age. Even as she hides behind the camera, maintaining a low public profile, her influence shapes Chet’s character and resilience.

Sarah has always emphasized the importance of education and personal growth, ensuring that Chet remains grounded despite all his athletic achievements. Her nurturing presence made Chet a well-rounded, developed, and balanced NBA player with major personal integrity.

Who Are Chet Holmgren’s Siblings?

Chet has two sisters – Claire and Alexandra.

As per Chet’s 2022 interview with Pro Insight, the older sister, Claire, was a swimmer, but some medical issues derailed her career. Claire prefers to avoid the camera lens with no major news, interviews, or public appearances surrounding her. Like mother, like daughter!

Alexandra, the younger sister, is an athlete. She is a professional volleyball player who represented Hopkins High School and played for the Royals as a sophomore in 2019.

From 2017 to 2021, Alexandra also played club volleyball with the Minnesota Select. She wore the No. 15 jersey, bringing home multiple awards and accolades. The 14 Open Gold Division win in 2018 was the highlight of her career with the Minnesota Select.

Unlike Chet, she carved out her destiny in volleyball without running after her father’s or brother’s footsteps.

Chet and his family have hosted many Thanksgiving dinners for local foster families and community citizens. Everyone from his family gets involved, with sisters even making intricate centerpieces and savory pieces for the buffet. The first such dinner happened in 2023 when he was still a rookie, and the last one happened last year.

Family values and traditions seem to mean a lot to Chet, as he keeps space for these emotions in his heart, despite the success he is gaining as a young star reaching the NBA Finals.
