‘Genuinely Rage-Baiting’ — Warriors World Revolts As GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. Claims Front Office Has Been ‘Super Aggressive’ Despite Quiet Offseason

Mike Dunleavy Jr. faces fierce backlash over the Warriors' underwhelming offseason as calls mount for Stephen Curry to get more help.

The Golden State Warriors have been the NBA’s least active team this offseason, failing to add a single established player to their Stephen Curry-led core as of mid-August.

While Dub Nation has been warned that the 2026-27 season is shaping up as a possible “gap year,” Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. insisted Tuesday that the franchise has been “super aggressive” in seeking out upgrades. His comments ultimately fell on deaf ears, with many calling for him to back up his words.

Mike Dunleavy Jr. Catches Flak Over Response to Warriors’ Underwhelming Offseason

Coming off an injury-plagued 2025-26 campaign that saw it finish 10th in the Western Conference (37-45) and miss the postseason, Golden State was heavily featured in early offseason rumors.

The team was firmly entrenched in the LeBron James sweepstakes, with reports also connecting it to other stars such as Anthony Davis and Jaylen Brown as Dunleavy and Co. sought to maximize Curry’s final prime years.

Unfortunately for Warriors fans, after missing out on James, the team failed to land any big names via trade or free agency. Aside from re-signing veterans Draymond Green, Kristaps Porziņģis, Al Horford, Gary Payton II, and De’Anthony Melton, their most noteworthy move was drafting Yaxel Lendeborg at No. 11 in the 2026 NBA Draft.

While Lendeborg thrived in Summer League, taking home MVP behind his impressive two-way play, the versatile, high-motor forward may be hard-pressed to elevate Golden State back into the playoff picture in the daunting West.

According to Dunleavy, the Warriors’ quiet offseason is not for lack of trying, though.

“We’re super aggressive. I mean, if people knew the cold calls I made, offering a lot of stuff for players, I think they’d realize how hard we’re trying,” Dunleavy said Tuesday, adding, “I feel pretty confident that if we have to improve the roster in the middle of the season, we can.”

The former sharpshooter’s confidence was met with fierce pushback, with many Golden State supporters expressing their frustration on X.

“This dude genuinely be rage-baiting us Curry fans,” one user reacted.

“You’re confident that you can make it happen in the middle of the year, but want us to believe you’ve been super aggressive this offseason?” another questioned.

“Super aggressive that resulted in goose eggs??? Dunleavy is delusional,” one supporter vented.

“How [the expletive] is Mike Dunleavy still employed???” another asked.

“Yea, buddy… as aggressive as your playing career,” one more quipped.

If Marc Stein’s Tuesday night newsletter is any indication, major reinforcements may not be on the way anytime soon, as the NBA insider noted that Golden State is zeroing in on fringe role players Georges Niang and Brandon Williams for its final roster spots.

As such, frustration surrounding the organization’s direction appears unlikely to subside as the 2026-27 season draws nearer.
