Stephen Curry has spent all 17 of his NBA seasons wearing a Golden State Warriors uniform. However, Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. recently opened the door to a scenario in which the four-time champion could eventually move, immediately catching attention.

Unlike many other superstars who have moved on when their teams declined, the 38-year-old Curry has continued to show remarkable loyalty and is expected to remain committed to the franchise.
However, that belief did not stop Curry’s future with Golden State from becoming a major talking point following the team’s GM’s recent interview with ESPN’s Anthony Slater.
During the conversation, Dunleavy explained what the organization would do if Curry ever asked to be traded.
“There’s two things I’m confident about with Steph. He really, really wants to win, and he wants to finish his career as a Warrior,” Dunleavy said.
“Ultimately, it’s his call, his decision. Whether that’s allowing his contract to run out and move on. Look, if he comes to me and wants to be moved, [controlling owner] Joe [Lacob] and I will talk it through.”
Dunleavy made it clear that Golden State has no desire to trade its franchise icon, but he acknowledged that Curry has earned the freedom to make his own decision.
“We wouldn’t love it. But he’s earned the right to do what he wants.”
For now, Curry has shown no indication that he wants to request a trade. But Dunleavy’s willingness to consider the possibility that the two-time MVP might want out frustrated some fans and immediately sparked speculation about what could happen.

“They want to rebuild so bad, but Steph wants to retire there,” another user highlighted.
This offseason has already demonstrated how quickly NBA teams can become aggressive when generational superstars such as Giannis Antetokounmpo and LeBron James potentially become available.
If Curry ever entered the trade market, the situation would likely be no different, and some Boston Celtics fans have already started imagining Curry heading to Boston.

Since entering the league in 2009, Curry has remained one of the most loyal stars to the franchise that drafted him. He became the centerpiece of the Warriors’ dynasty that won four championships.
However, the last few years have been much more challenging for both Curry and Golden State. Last season, the veteran guard missed more than two months because of right knee pain, while Jimmy Butler’s season-ending injury further damaged the team’s chances.

The Warriors struggled to maintain their offensive consistency and failed to advance to the playoffs. Struggles have become familiar for the Golden State in recent seasons.
Curry is entering the final season of a $62.5 million contract and will become eligible for a two-year extension worth up to $136.7 million.
According to league insider Brett Siegel, the Warriors are prepared to give Curry whatever he wants — intel that could offer some reassurance to the Golden State faithful.
