The Golden State Warriors have been heavily rumored to be in talks with the Milwaukee Bucks to trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Since the beginning of the season, there have been several rumors about Giannis wanting out of Milwaukee. This has a lot to do with the Bucks’ recent failure to help Antetokounmpo achieve his championship aspirations.
Warriors Predicted To Trade Draymond Green for Giannis Antetokounmpo
Due to those circumstances, many teams have begun lurking for a potential Antetokounmpo trade. While there is plenty of interest, the Warriors are said to be the frontrunners and predicted to cut ties with their $100,000,000 star to acquire Giannis.
The Warriors are in a bit of a quandary. While their current record of 27-23 is good enough for them to be in the Play-In Tournament picture, Jimmy Butler III’s absence doesn’t help them.
Two weeks ago, Butler tore his right ACL after colliding with Davion Mitchell in a game against the Miami Heat. This has now left Stephen Curry as the only star left to lead the Warriors in their quest to achieve their goals this season.
With the lack of star power on the team, the Warriors are now looking to acquire Antetokounmpo from the Bucks. Butler was heavily rumored to be the centerpiece of the potential trade; however, the Warriors promised to stick by his side during his year-long recovery.
Consequently, Draymond Green is now Golden State’s only other option to match Giannis’ salary in a potential trade. According to recent reports, the Warriors are predicted to let go of Green as part of a trade for Antetokounmpo.

While the acquisition of Antetokounmpo would undoubtedly help bolster the Warriors’ roster, it’s a tricky situation. Curry is now approaching the twilight years of his career. Then there’s Butler, who’s currently undergoing his ACL recovery. There’s a possibility that Butler might not be the same player when he returns next season.
With that in mind, if the Warriors want to maximize Antetokounmpo’s time in the Bay Area, they’ll need to win in the next couple of seasons before Curry decides to call it quits and hang up the laces.
