Kevin Durant Bluntly Calls Out NBA Analyst for Bringing Him Into Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade Saga

Rockets star Kevin Durant called out an NBA analyst for using his name to connect with the trade rumors surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant saw his name become part of social media discussions about the trade saga involving Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. Not seeing the connection between himself and Antetokounmpo’s trade rumors, Durant fired back at the NBA analyst who made the initial comments.

What Kevin Durant Said to NBA Analyst on Social Media

Durant is halfway through the 19th year of his NBA career, his first with the Rockets. He has enjoyed a unique journey throughout his time in the league, first transforming into a superstar with the Oklahoma City Thunder, then winning two titles with the Golden State Warriors, spending short stints with the Brooklyn Nets and Phoenix Suns, before joining the Houston Rockets this past offseason.

Durant is helping the Rockets make progress toward becoming a potential title contender with the talent on their roster. However, he saw his name used in a recent social media debate.

NBA analyst Justin Termine, who hosts NBA Today on “SiriusXM,” connected the trade rumors about Antetokounmpo with Durant’s potential trade to the Minnesota Timberwolves during the 2025 offseason.

“If Giannis is willing to go to a small cold market like Minnesota, then credit to him for going anywhere it takes to win. The Timberwolves wanted Durant in the offseason, yet he reportedly wanted to go to Houston or Miami and not Minnesota,” Termine wrote.

Durant caught wind of the post, criticizing why his events had anything to do with what’s happening with Antetokounmpo. “What do I have to do with this???” Durant questioned.

What’s Next on Schedule for Durant and Rockets?

Durant doesn’t shy away from calling out his critics and basketball fans on social media. This latest incident was no different, as Antetokounmpo is going through a unique situation with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Antetokounmpo has been representing the Bucks for 12 seasons, winning two MVP Awards and leading the franchise to the NBA championship in 2021. However, early playoff exits in the last three seasons have led the star forward to explore a new home while Milwaukee looks to gear up for a complete rebuild.

This is different from what Durant has gone through in his career. The teams he left didn’t go into rebuilds; rather, they retooled their rosters to remain playoff contenders, the opposite of what the Bucks might do with Antetokounmpo. As for the Timberwolves, it makes sense for the franchise to pursue Durant and Antetokounmpo, but it would be a tough challenge to pull off.

In the meantime, Durant will move on from the event as he helps Houston stand firm in the playoff picture. The squad has a 29-17 record so far this season, sitting at fourth place in the Western Conference standings. They lead over the Timberwolves by 0.5 games and the Los Angeles Lakers by one game. However, they trail the Denver Nuggets by two games and the San Antonio Spurs by 2.5 games.

The next two games will be at home before the Rockets go on the road. They host the Dallas Mavericks on Jan. 31 at 8:30 p.m. ET before travelling to Indiana to face the Pacers on Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. ET.
