‘What Did That LeBron Steal Do to Bro?’, ‘Became Bigger Than Austin Reaves Overnight’ — NBA World Stunned by Rockets Guard’s Offseason Transformation

Reed Sheppard's offseason transformation has Rockets fans talking as the young guard gears up for another possible leap in Year 3.

The Houston Rockets possess plenty of promising young talent on their roster, and Reed Sheppard has quickly established himself as one of the most intriguing pieces of that group.

As Sheppard enters his third NBA season, the young guard appears determined to take another major step forward, with his noticeable physical transformation already drawing plenty of attention.

Reed Sheppard’s Physical Transformation Has Rockets Fans Talking

Sheppard has placed a major emphasis on improving his physical strength throughout the summer. In July, the young guard explained that the most important part of his offseason was dedicating himself to getting stronger, spending more time in the weight room, and building his body for the demands of another NBA season.

That commitment appears to be paying off. The Rockets’ social media account recently posted footage showing Sheppard going through an intense workout at the team’s practice facility, giving fans a clear look at how much his physique has changed.

The noticeable transformation immediately caught the attention of supporters, with many impressed by the added muscle and physical development of the young guard.

“Couldn’t even recognize Reed Sheppard. He’s gonna be an incredible guard in the NBA. The hate is unjustified. Cocaine Curry, coming soon,” one comment read.

“When Reed Sheppard is properly used, they will see he is a one-of-one talent. He plays the lanes and is a consistent 3-point shooter. I would like him allowed to keep his rhythm in games instead of being used like another rotational player,” one user commented.

“How did Reed Sheppard become bigger than Austin (Reaves) overnight ?? HE WENT TO THE GYM INSTEAD OF THE GOLF COURSE,” another fan chimed in.

The physical transformation also brought back memories of a difficult moment from Sheppard’s sophomore season. During Game 3 of the Rockets’ first-round playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers, Sheppard committed a costly late-game turnover when LeBron James managed to poke the ball away from him. James and the Lakers ultimately capitalized on the mishap and completed a comeback victory.

With Sheppard now looking noticeably stronger heading into the 2026-27 campaign, several fans jokingly connected his offseason dedication to that humbling moment against the future Hall of Famer.

“Reed Sheppard been in the gym, locked in since Bron poked the ball away from him,” a fan wrote.

“LeGOAT really lit a fire in Reed,” an observer joked.

“Omg, what did that LeBron steal do to bro,” a fan quipped.

Rockets general manager Rafael Stone has also publicly acknowledged Sheppard’s physical progress, pointing to the substantial amount of muscle the young guard has added during his development. Stone also estimated that their young star gained approximately 10 pounds.

The physical overhaul comes after Sheppard already took a significant step forward between his rookie and sophomore seasons. After receiving relatively limited opportunities during his first year in the league, Sheppard ended his second campaign with a considerably larger role, playing all 82 regular-season games.

That opportunity came after veteran guard Fred VanVleet suffered an offseason injury. With VanVleet unavailable, Rockets head coach Ime Udoka turned to Sheppard as an important secondary playmaker.

Sheppard responded by delivering solid production, finishing the 2025-26 regular season with averages of 13.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.
