NBA World Reacts to Kawhi Leonard’s ‘Ridiculous’ All-Star Snub: ‘Worst Omission of All-Time’

The basketball world sounds off online as Clippers star Kawhi Leonard was snubbed from the All-Star Game despite putting up career-high numbers.

Over the past decade, Kawhi Leonard has solidified himself as one of the top stars of his generation. Though injuries have hindered him greatly, he’s still emerged as an elite two-way superstar at the small forward position.

However, despite being a high-profile name in the name, Leonard will find himself absent from one of the league’s top weekends of the year.

NBA World Stunned After Kawhi Leonard Is Left Out of 2026 All-Star Game

On Sunday evening, the NBA announced the reserve players for this year’s All-Star Game. For the Western Conference, the group includes LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Anthony Edwards. Despite putting up numbers comparable to his top peers, Leonard was overlooked this season.

Fans and analysts instantly engaged in debates that this time around, Leonard finds himself arguably the biggest snub. “LeBron making this year’s All-Star team over Kawhi is simply absurd,” wrote Shane Young.

In a diss to the NBA, BrickCenter wrote, “The NBA ROBBED Kawhi to make LeBron an All-Star 😭.”

While the Los Angeles Clippers came out of the gates slowly, Leonard has been putting together one of the best seasons of his career. He’s regularly been available, appearing in 34 of the Clippers’ first 47 games, and is putting up stellar numbers. Along with averaging a career-high 27.7 PPG, he is posting 6.1 RPG, 3.5 APG, and a league-leading 2.1 SPG.

Given the kind of year he’s had thus far, the basketball world was shocked and outraged to see the Clippers star snubbed. “Kawhi Leonard has been the best player not named SGA, Luka, or Jokic in the western conference this year, I know he’s missed some games but it’s preposterous he’s not on the team,” Josh Eberley wrote.

An array of fans and analysts took to social media to voice their displeasure with Leonard being overlooked amid a strong 2026 campaign. “Joel & Kawhi not being named All-Stars is an absolute joke,” wrote longtime trainer Drew Hanlen.

“It’s a complete joke that Kawhi Leonard is not an all star reserve. Ridiculous,” said Stan Verrett. “Historically bad snub,” said Clippers reporter Farbod Esnaashari.

“All Star doesn’t matter much but Kawhi is clearly having a better season than every West reserve but Ant,” one fan said. “Worst all star omission of all time,” Jamal Cristopher noted.

Meanwhile, Clippers head coach Ty Lue also came to the defense of his star player. He feels Leonard has been playing as good as any player in the league right now and deserves an All-Star nod. “Kawhi, to me, the last 6 weeks, has been the best player in the NBA,” Lue said.

Seeing that he won’t be partaking in All-Star weekend, Leonard can use the break to recuperate as the Clippers attempt to make a push for the playoffs in the final months of the regular season.
