NBA fans witnessed the retirement of two legendary point guards this year, as both Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook officially stepped away from the league in 2026. Their retirements marked the end of an era for two of the most recognizable, influential floor generals in modern basketball.
Recently, Paul and Westbrook offered fans a small glimpse into their post-NBA lives. While the reunion itself caught attention, it was Paul’s appearance that quickly became one of the biggest talking points among fans.
Chris Paul’s Retirement Look With Russell Westbrook Sparks Hilarious Reactions
Former NBA player Matt Barnes revealed on the All the Smoke podcast that Paul and Westbrook had planned to enjoy a joint post-retirement getaway. According to Barnes, Paul and his wife, Jada, would meet up with Westbrook and his wife, Nina, for a trip designed to celebrate their careers and begin the next chapter of their lives together.
That long-awaited getaway seemingly took place, as a photo of the two NBA legends enjoying their time on a boat quickly went viral.
A separate clip from the trip also grabbed significant attention, showing both legendary point guards casually throwing lobs to one another on the deck of the boat.

Paul retired in February of this year following a remarkable 21-year NBA career. He walked away from the game as a 12-time All-Star with 11 All-NBA selections and one of only seven players in NBA history to spend at least 21 seasons in the league.
Meanwhile, Westbrook announced his retirement last month through a video shared on social media. The nine-time All-Star and 2017 MVP ended his career after 18 NBA seasons, despite reportedly having offers from two teams. He left the league as its all-time leader in triple-doubles, finishing his career with an extraordinary 209.
