NBA World Shares Outrage Over Ticket Prices at New York Knicks’ MSG

Widely regarded as the “Mecca of Basketball,” Madison Square Garden is an arena with a rich history. The Knicks are looking to follow in the footsteps of the 1970 and 1973 teams by winning the NBA Championship, and fans will have to spend thousands of dollars to watch the action live at Madison Square Garden, even for nosebleed seats.

A Detroit Pistons fan called out the astronomical ticket prices at Madison Square Garden, which has a capacity of 20,000.

“This should be illegal smh,” they wrote on X.

Another fan commented on the absurdity of the demand that people pay upwards of $7000 for an obstructed view of the court.

“If you pay this to sit here you’re a clown,” they wrote.

A Knicks fan and content creator wrote that they would rather watch from home than pay those prices to go to Madison Square Garden and watch with an obstructed view.

“I’m sorry this ain’t worth it for that price and view I’d rather sit in the comfort of my own home,” they wrote.

Another offered a solution to the surging ticket prices at Madison Square Garden. It is worth noting that these are the cheapest tickets at the arena, and tickets are being sold for as high as $102,541.

“At MINIMUM half the seats should be mandated reserved for regular New Yorkers and capped at like 10% of the price of the other seats and handed out in a lottery system. Sports are for bringing community together, not just entertainment for millionaires,” they wrote.

A hockey fan claimed that, despite the popularity of the NHL and the high cost of living in Toronto, ticket prices would not be as high even if the Maple Leafs hosted the Stanley Cup Final.

“Honestly, I don’t think a Cup game in Toronto even comes close. This is just insane,” they wrote.

The Knicks are enjoying an unprecedented run at the moment and have already taken a 1-0 lead in the NBA Finals. Even at these inflated prices, some Knicks fans feel that a chance to watch their team attempt to make history might be too good to turn down. However, many diehard Knicks fans are being priced out of watching their beloved team compete at the sport’s biggest stage.
