The 2026 NBA Finals are set, with the New York Knicks taking on the San Antonio Spurs in a seven-game series. While the Knicks were expected to be contenders, very few could have predicted San Antonio reaching the Finals, and those who did are cashing in right now.
One bettor has even turned a long-shot futures parlay into more than $1.7 million after correctly predicting a Knicks-Spurs Finals matchup alongside several other outcomes, leaving the NBA world in awe.
How One Bettor Turned a $2,500 Futures Parlay Into a $1.7 Million Payday
The wager was placed at DraftKings Sportsbook on Valentine’s Day (February 14), with the bettor risking $2,500 on a four-leg parlay.
The selections were Michigan to win the men’s NCAA basketball championship, Team USA men’s hockey to win gold at the 2026 Winter Olympics, the Knicks to win the Eastern Conference, and the Spurs to win the Western Conference.
With three of the four legs already secured before Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals between the Spurs and Thunder, DraftKings offered a cash-out of $502,583.66. The bettor declined.
Instead, he stayed the course and ultimately cashed one of the biggest betting tickets of the year, collecting more than $1.7 million.
The NBA world was quick to react to the remarkable win. College football enthusiast Karlo Zovko wrote, “Incredible,”
Meanwhile, another user dubbed him a “F**king LEGEND.”

With the series tied 2-2 entering Game 5 and the Thunder having won back-to-back games while looking far from out of contention, many would have taken the $502,583.66 cash-out offer. It still would have represented an enormous return on a $2,500 wager.
However, the bettor wasn’t willing to leave an additional $1.2 million on the table, even against the advice of family and friends.
“It’s a crazy return on investment,” he had explained in a video on X. “It’s shameful not to take it in gambling, you have to take your winnings and run. But I don’t see it as such. I see it as me leaving $1.2 million on the table.”
That level of conviction certainly requires nerves of steel, or as one user joked, “He time traveled for sure lol.”

“The man knows his basketball and sports betting, no doubt!” another user added.
Of the four selections, predicting the Spurs to win the Western Conference over the defending champion Thunder was arguably the most difficult.
The Knicks entered the season as one of the favorites in the East, while Michigan’s NCAA title run as the No. 1 seed, culminating in a victory in the national championship game, was hardly shocking.
Team USA’s 2-1 victory over Canada on February 22 to capture the nation’s first Olympic men’s hockey gold medal since 1980 was another difficult leg to hit.
However, correctly predicting all four outcomes was an extraordinary feat.
