Los Angeles Lakers Make Bronny James Decision Before Suns Game

The Los Angeles Lakers will be without Bronny James for Thursday's game against the Suns in Arizona.

On Thursday night, the Los Angeles Lakers will play the Phoenix Suns in Arizona. The Lakers are coming off a tough loss (at home) to the Orlando Magic by a score of 110-109.

For Thursday’s game, the team has announced its injury report.

Lakers Confirm Bronny James’ Status for Key Western Conference Game

The team will remain without second-year guard Bronny James, who is on a G League assignment with South Bay. Bronny has been ruled out (with Adou Thiero, who is also with South Bay).

Bronny has had a very solid season in South Bay for the second straight year. The 21-year-old currently averages 16.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 1.4 steals per contest while shooting 55.4% from the field and 39.5% from three-point range in seven games (six starts). Last season, Bronny averaged 21.9 points per contest in 11 games.

NBA G League wrote on Wednesday night: “Bronny James recorded a new season-high, 21 points this afternoon in the @SouthBayLakers win over the Valley Suns. James shot an impressive 64% from the field. 🏹”

Despite his strong play in the minor leagues, Bronny has been unable to crack JJ Redick’s rotation in a major way during the 2025-26 season.

He has played 18+ minutes just five times this year. His best game came on Feb. 10, when he put up 12 points and six assists while shooting 5/10 from the field and 2/2 from three-point range in 25 minutes.

@LakersLegacyPod wrote on Wednesday night: “Bronny just a completely different, more confident player in the G. Adou Thiero w/ the Screen, Bronny w/ the Knife In and slick finish.”

The Lakers come into Thursday’s showdown with Phoenix as the sixth seed in the Western Conference with a 34-23 record in 57 games. They are in the middle of a two-game losing streak (and 5-5 over their last ten).

After the Suns, the Lakers will visit the Golden State Warriors on Saturday at the Chase Center.

On the other side, the Suns are the seventh seed with a 33-26 record in 57 games. They are in the middle of a two-game losing streak and have lost seven out of their last 10.

Following the Lakers, the Suns will play their next game on Tuesday when they visit the Sacramento Kings.
