LeBron James’ 3 ‘INSANE’ 1st-Half Dunks in Lakers-Rockets Game Go Viral: ‘OFFICIALLY BEATEN FATHER TIME’

LeBron James’ viral dunk sequence vs. Rockets sparks massive reactions as the Lakers star continues to defy age and expectations.

The Los Angeles Lakers are already riding a strong wave this season. They are currently 43-25. But just when it seemed like the spotlight was shifting toward the team’s younger core, LeBron James reminded the basketball world why he’s still the headline act.

LeBron James Stuns the NBA World With Wednesday Night Performance

In the second quarter of the game against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night, the moment unfolded. Austin Reaves launched a near half-court pass, and without breaking stride, James elevated and threw down a lob dunk that electrified the arena.

What followed was a wave of nonstop praise from analysts.

James is currently playing in his 23rd NBA season. It is itself a record for the most seasons played by any player in league history. Moreover, he turned 41 years old last December. It is an age when most professional athletes have long retired, started podcasts, and handed in their sneakers.

Yet there he was on Wednesday night, converting dunks like it was 2016 all over again. The NBA world simply cannot stop praising him.

“LEBRON JAMES HAS OFFICIALLY BEATEN FATHER TIME!!!!” wrote the famous NBA highlights page LakeShowYo.

James threw down three dunks in the first half of the game alone. NBA analyst Law Murray of The Athletic amplified the moment further by dropping an amazing stat. This season, James has made more dunks in 48 games (72) than he did in 70 games last season (71).

“LeBron James now has more dunks this season in 48 games (72) than he had in 70 games last season (71),” Murray wrote.

Just one day before Wednesday’s game, Lakers head coach JJ Redick publicly confirmed that James is the third option in Los Angeles. The system is built primarily around Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves. It seemed like a reasonable tactical framing at the time.

Then on Wednesday, James went out and posted a first half that no true “third option” in basketball history has ever come close to matching. Analysts were swift and unanimous in their response.

“Lebron James is by far the best ‘3rd option’ in the league … We gotta create a new award just for him,” wrote PurpGold.

During the 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend, many analysts across the league openly expressed their wish to see James finally take part in the Slam Dunk Contest. However, his agent, Rich Paul, had shut down those hopes. He revealed that James ultimately passed on the contest because he prefers delivering his dunks in real game situations.

After Wednesday night’s performance, it’s hard to argue with that philosophy. The King didn’t need a contest stage to prove anything.

“You see LeBron dunk like this IN YEAR 23 … and you wonder why he never participated in a single Dunk Contest,” wrote Skip Bayless.

As the Lakers continue their push toward the postseason, moments like these serve as a reminder that James isn’t just still playing, but he’s still evolving.
