The Los Angeles Clippers’ 2025-26 season hasn’t been without drama. From doubts on James Harden’s ability to carry the team to off-court controversies around Kawhi Leonard, the Clippers had an unexpectedly slow start to their campaign.
However, Harden and Leonard — though not entirely out of the woods — seemed to have regained some momentum. And while Harden has a long way to go before thinking of securing a title, he seems proud of his partnership with Leonard.
James Harden Makes Lofty Statement About LA Clippers, Kawhi Leonard
On Monday, Harden and Leonard came together to lead the Clippers to a stellar 117-109 win against the Charlotte Hornets.
Leonard and Harden were the stars of the show, scoring 35 and 32 points respectively. The combined 67 points were a hopeful touch for LA fans who are eagerly waiting for a good playoff run.
This was also the Clippers’ third straight win. The team previously beat the Brooklyn Nets and Detroit Pistons, making their win against the Hornets an important victory ahead of the 2026 postseason.
And although fans are aware of the long road ahead, Harden is excited about his team’s newfound tempo.
Naturally, the 36-year-old star was pumped after a 30+ point game, hyping his teamwork with Leonard as he said: “Two of the most skilled talents that this league has ever seen.”
Fans remained in agreement with Harden. Many even expressed frustration over Harden being onboarded too late, wondering if an earlier trade might have earned them better results.
Leonard is currently averaging 28.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 50.1% from the field. Harden, on his end, is averaging 25.8 points, 8.0 assists, and 4.8 rebounds in 36 games while shooting 42.9% from the field.
One of the significant concerns remains Leonard’s multiple injuries. The NBA star has missed more games than he has played in the past few years, directly affecting his team’s chances of winning a championship.
Harden Credited Brook Lopez For the Team’s Change in Pace
Despite a slow start, Harden and the Clippers have secured a 16-23 win-loss record. In a previous interview, Harden explained what exactly turned the tide.
“Honestly, credit to Brook,” Harden said. “What he brings to the table defensively. His communication, him contesting shots at the rim, shot-making ability, spacing. A combination of those things has helped us overall as a team offensively.”
The Clippers signed Lopez in 2025, making him one of their most impactful moves this season.
Currently ranked 11th in the Western Conference, the Clippers will look to extend their winning streak against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday, January 24.
