Grizzlies Star Ja Morant Sends Cryptic 13-Word Message Amid Latest NBA Trade Rumors

Memphis Grizzlies All-Star point guard Ja Morant makes cryptic post on X (formerly Twitter) Monday night amid trade rumors linking him to the Miami Heat.

Now that the dust has settled from the Trae Young trade, Ja Morant has emerged as the new top name in the rumor mill.

As chatter continues to swirl around the Memphis Grizzlies star, he decided to take to the internet to send a message to his fans and critics.

Ja Morant Makes Social Media Post Amid Trade Rumors

Since being drafted second overall by the Grizzlies in 2019, Morant has been the face of the franchise. Early in his career, he looked poised to lead the franchise into the future.

However, off-court antics and injuries have derailed him in recent years.

Over the weekend, NBA insider Shams Charania provided a massive update regarding Morant. Amid their 17-22 start to the season, the Grizzlies are reportedly open to listening to trade offers for the two-time All-Star.

Though Morant’s production has trended in the wrong direction the last few seasons, the high-flying guard is still drawing interest from across the league. Various teams have been linked to him. Among those who have been brought up are the Miami Heat.

During his latest news dump for the Stein Line, insider Jake Fischer cited that Miami has had internal discussions about pursuing the Grizzlies guard.

As the basketball world continues its discourse about Morant, he decided to chime in with some thoughts of his own. On Monday evening, he made a brief post on X (formerly Twitter) regarding those who are for and against his success moving forward.

Similar to recent seasons, Morant has struggled to consistently be available for the Grizzlies. He’s played in just 18 games this season, last suiting up on Jan. 2. When on the floor, Morant is averaging 19.0 points (his lowest mark since his sophomore season), 3.2 rebounds, and 7.6 assists.

As far as a return for Morant goes, Charania reported that Memphis covets draft capital and young players to pair with the current promising youth on the roster. That said, landing a respectable return for the 26-year-old might be a tall task.

Though he was once viewed as one of the league’s top promising young stars, his stock has taken a big hit. Between constantly being in and out of the lineup and his off-court actions in the past, teams aren’t going to part with valuable assets in a trade.

Still with about three weeks until the Feb. 5th deadline, the Grizzlies have time to survey the market and assess their options. Only time will tell if Morant joins Young as a high-level talent on the move, or if he’ll be riding out the year in Memphis.
