ESPN insider Brian Windhorst has now revealed why the Heat’s recent press conference gaffe is not a hint that the 41-year-old could be headed to South Beach.

The Heat made a blunder on YouTube earlier this week, mistakenly posting a link to a scheduled introductory press conference for July 27 with James. This sent the NBA world into a frenzy, with many believing that this was a sign that the four-time MVP could be on his way back to Miami.
However, Windhorst has poured cold water on the rumor. The NBA insider made it clear on Thursday that James has no plans to hold an introductory press conference, rendering the YouTube gaffe irrelevant.
Windhorst also pointed out how James’ infamous welcome press conference with the Heat back in 2010, where he claimed that the franchise would win “Not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, not six, not seven” championships, as the reason for him not doing such briefings anymore.
“There’s not going to be an introductory press conference. You don’t have to get it ready. After ‘not 5, not 6, not 7’ LeBron is done with introductory press conferences. If he does one it’s going to be on his platforms and not an open thing that you’re gonna have,” Windhorst said on ESPN’s First Take on Thursday.
Windhorst also noted how everyone is still in the dark over James’ decision, with the entire league awaiting his announcement.
“I promise you, I swear, to all the people out there, I know there is this unquenchable desire to know. I know the league is somewhat frozen right now… I am talking to players, teams involved, I’m talking to owners, I’m talking to everybody in the league all day long. Nobody knows,” he added.
It has now been more than three weeks since James told the Los Angeles Lakers that he would be leaving the franchise ahead of his 24th year in the NBA. The wait for his decision has left the entire league in a standstill, with interested teams eagerly awaiting his next move.
James is carefully weighing his options as he looks to pick out a franchise that would give him his best chance of winning a fifth NBA championship.
