LeBron James’ free agency has stretched longer than any other decision in his 23-year NBA career, and everyone seems to have an opinion on where the four-time NBA champion should play next.
The latest take came from Myles Turner, who shared both his favorite landing spot and a surprise sleeper team while discussing James’ future on his podcast.

Speaking on ‘Game Recognize Game with Stewie and Myles,’ Turner shared where he believes James should continue his career. While several teams have been linked to the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, Turner believes a return to the Cleveland Cavaliers makes the most sense.
“For someone like himself, Cleveland makes sense. You go out, playing for your hometown team; you won a championship for that team. I think it’s good for the league, personally, if he makes that move,” Turner said.
That’s an easy pick to understand. James grew up in Akron, Ohio, was drafted by the Cavaliers, and delivered the franchise’s first NBA championship in 2016. Going back to Cleveland would feel like a storybook ending.
But the veteran center also named a surprise team that he believes could create the biggest buzz.
“My sleeper choice would be the Sixers, just because that’s going to get the most hype, if you will, where he kind of does have a chance to go out there and be competitive. But my pick is Cleveland. We’ll see where we’re at.”
Turner’s “sleeper” pick makes sense, too. The Philadelphia 76ers made a big trade for Jaylen Brown this offseason, and reports say Brown has been talking to James about joining Philadelphia.
Sixers stars Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid have reportedly been part of those talks as well. If James picks the Sixers, it really would be one of the biggest surprises of the summer, which is probably why Turner thinks it would get so much attention.
Turner’s comments come as James remains one of the biggest storylines of the NBA offseason. Last month, the 41-year-old informed the Los Angeles Lakers that he would not return for a record 24th NBA season, making him an unrestricted free agent for the first time in eight years.
Since then, several contenders have been linked to James. The Cavaliers have frequently appeared in reports. His former team, the Miami Heat, has also been mentioned, while the 76ers continue to generate speculation.
James and his camp, however, have made it clear that no rushed decision will be made. His longtime agent, Rich Paul, recently said the process is “not going to be rushed” and emphasized that James will choose his next team when he feels ready rather than working on anyone else’s timeline.
Meanwhile, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has publicly said he hopes James announces his decision soon so the league can finalize its schedule. But Paul reiterated that the decision belongs relies entirely future Hall of Famer.
