The deal brings a familiar and adaptable presence back to Cleveland. As confirmed by Marc Stein on X, Nance and the Cavaliers have agreed on terms for a second stint, following the Atlanta Hawks’ resistance to trade offers for the forward over the past season.
This return is especially significant for Cavaliers fans, who remember Nance’s impact during his first tenure with the team.
During his previous time with the Cavaliers from 2018 to 2021, Nance was a standout for his all-around game and defensive skills. He averaged 9.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists across those seasons.
His energy and ability to contribute in multiple areas made him a fan favorite and a valuable asset to the roster.
Last season, Nance played for the Atlanta Hawks, appearing in 24 games. He posted averages of 8.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game. He shot 51.6% from the field and an impressive 44.7% from three-point range.
A knee fracture cut his season short, but his efficient scoring and consistent defensive effort were evident even in limited action.
Nance’s return is expected to strengthen the Cavaliers’ frontcourt depth, providing veteran leadership and an offensive spark off the bench. His versatility on defense, improved outside shooting, and passing ability will be key factors as the Cavaliers look to make a deeper run in a wide-open Eastern Conference.
Contract details have been reported as a one-year, minimum contract for Nance, with the Cavaliers confirming the signing on July 1, 2025.
Drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2015, the 10-year veteran has also played for the Portland Trail Blazers, New Orleans Pelicans, and Hawks. His experience and work ethic should provide a much-needed boost for the Cavaliers as they aim for another championship run.
